Engine Bay Detailing

Does anyone here have advice on the best possible way to clean the engine bay on my M4?
I was cutting cedar with my mitre saw for a sauna that I am building and forgot to close the hood.
What a mess!!
I'm afraid to hose the engine bay down with water but if this needs to be done by hand, it's going to take me a week

Thanks in advance for any ideas...

Use an air compressor and a shop vac, if you get the sawdust wet you'll never get it off. Even one of the small 110V air compressors will do the trick.

Hey Brad
I watched a Youtube video by a guy who does a lot of engine bay details.
He uses a vacuum and blower just like you suggested.
He blows it out and vacuums first and then foams it and uses the brushes to clean all the dust.
He then sprays the engine compartment with water and swears that it will not do any damage as long as you keep the spray moving and cover your alternator.
Next nice day, I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the response.

Oh man! Such an easy mistake to make, the thought actually gives me anxiety

As above, try not to get the sawdust wet. I work with the stuff daily and once it’s wet, it just sticks and makes a right mess. Perhaps blowing would work best with the undertrays removed to blow it right out the bottom? Otherwise it tends to blow everywhere and then settle again.

On the S55 engine you do NOT want to spray water. The connectors to the DME computer are not water tight. I fried a DME when water got into a connector. $5K mistake!
