Advice needed, I’ve downloaded the new map update from BMW download manager, I’ve transferred it to a NTFS formatted USB stick, but when I plug it into my car nothing happens.

Go with CarPlay and Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps, muck better and no costs to update.

I think it should be FAT32. Did my sons recently using that.

Agreed - I use another 3rd-party source and they explicitly specify FAT32, which is supported by most operating systems including the one used in the BMW infotainment system.
