F82 Dedicated track car build

Hi,

I have gained so much insight and information from this forum, I thought it was only right I share my build with everyone. Before starting this build I had little to no knowledge about cars but last year I started to track my McLaren 720s regularly, this was starting to get very expensive with consumables hence why I decided to build this 720s/GT3 killer.

The car is still road legal but I have a trailer and the car will eventually be a none road legal dedicated track car. In its current form the car handles very well and performs great on track. A little more power would be good.

Base car 2014 F82 with 35K miles

Current Mods

Engine:
VTT Crank hub upgrade and Crankshaft Bolt Capture Kit
EcuTek Custom map with map switching and push to pass
The Turbo Engineers TTE740+ Turbo upgrade

Wagner Side Mounted Intercooler
MishiMoto Oil Cooler Kit (Including Braided lines)
Mishimoto BMW S55 M2 M3 M4 DCT Oil Cooler
VRSF High Flow Single Mid-pipe Upgrade for 2015 – 2019 BMW M3 & M4 F80/F82 S55
Akrapovic Catless Downpipes DP-BM/SS/3
MMR Performance Charge Pipe Kit MMR02-1001
MMR Replacement Panel Air Filter
Airtech motorsport catch can
M4 Oil Overfill Kit - Level Sensor and Spacer Kit

Suspension/Wheels/Brakes/Drivetrain:
KW V3s Clubsport
Milway camber plates
Front adjustable drop links
2Forge ZF6 18x11 Front:ET25 Rear:ET44
Nankang 315/30/18 AR1 Tyres
Wheel stud and nut conversion
AP racing PRO 5000R 6 pot front (Rears on back order)
Draxler LSD (Coming soon)
Team Schirmer differential lift kit

Interior:
Recaro SPG driver and passenger
TRS 6 point harnesses
Club sport half cage
Rear seat delete kit

Exterior:
Big wing, unknown brand purchased used.
GTS Spoiler lip

Next up:
AP motorsport GT4 front splitter (To balance the aero as the rear wing overpowers the small GTS front splitter)
varis diffuser + undertray (awaiting delivery)
Canards
Lightweight panels
Lightweight windows
KMP steering wheel
Full FIA weld in cage
Further stripping of the interior to reduce the weight

If anyone can provide any feedback or suggest improvements for the build it would be greatly appreciated. As I said above my knowledge of cars is low and everything I have learned has been from this forum mostly.

If I can help anyone or answer any questions I would be happy to.

I’d drop an AIM MXS dash for logging and more car insights.

The F Protocol gives tons of info and configuration potential.

Its definitely on the list, the only problem is every time I look at it I want the GT4 dash for it to go in

Is your bracket custom?

I hear ya!

The bracket is custom yes. I SCOURED the web for a solution and couldn’t find anyone. From Schmickler to Lang and everyone across the board. Nothing ready to go so custom it is.

This one is temporary for now, I have a guy in the mid west that is going to 3D print the upper steering column cover to house the dash as a single piece. He doesn’t it for other spec chassis. PM me if you want it on that.

Did you swap springs in your clubsports? I have front clearance issues with mine. I also think the front springs might be a little too soft

Nice build, 315 front is crazy!.

I definitly want in on that. Count me in.

The garage that have completed most of the work suggested a universal carbon motorsport dash. Looking into that as a much cheaper option to the GT4 dash.

No, they are out the box no changes to the springs. The garage that worked on the car said they had to remove some of the trim inside the wheel arch. Please excuse my lack of knowledge and terminology, this is all new to me.

I have not noticed any clearance issues and this car is still on the road. Once I get the GT4 front splitter with break cooling I will install the BimmerWorld Steering Rack Stops. As from my research I will definitely have clearance issues once the break cooling is installed.

With hybrid turbos and cat-less down-pipes be prepared for black flags caused by noise, especially at Brands. You may get away with keeping the rest of the exhaust standard.

I’ve been developing a valve-less 3” exhaust with 200 cell sport cats to get around this issue on my own car. Forget Akrapovic and Remus full system pipes, you’ll never see a track again unless it’s a very rare unlimited day. It’ll make your 720s sound quiet.

Just looking at your list again. I also went with Varis with my E92 but wish I hadn’t. It’s purely cosmetic and not at all functional. In fact the diffuser will slow you down by ballooning with air between it and the floor pan at speed. Functional diffusers I don’t think are possible off the shelf for bolt-on applications.

This is a big worry for me as my local track and the one I frequent the most is Brands hatch

I had hoped/prayed that keeping the backbox stock would be ok. If not I will have some catless downpipes for sale in the future.

Thanks for the heads up.

O man, I wish I had posted a thread before purchasing it. From all the off the shelf diffusers I could find it looked to be the one that would provide the most aero with the under tray. We live and we learn, I am steering clear of anything purely cosmetic so I cannot even say "well at least it looks bad a$$'
