How to ship wheels with tires mounted?

Can anyone offer some advice on how to get this done as safely and cost-effectively as possible? Thanks

sandwich each wheel between two thick pieces of cardboard or polyethylene foam. then shrink wrap them. ship them as 4 separate pieces or a pair. i e shipped several sets of wheels this way... BUT, never 21" or 22" wheels. i'd imagine that's gonna cost $$ and potentially be pallet/crate charges

BMWX5ER posted this in another thread. Maybe he can chime in here as he seems to have done it a couple of times including to me from coast to coast.

I usually cut rectangular sheets of cardboard measuring 26” each side and tape the front and back of the wheel with cardboard (make sure the full face of the wheel is protected). Then I generously wrap the entire wheel+tire with stretch wrap and finally wrap another run of tape over it.

It’s a pain in the *$$ to do this, but it’s not that difficult to do it either. Goes much easier if you have a 2nd person to hold the wheel in place while wrapping. Takes about 15-30 mins per wheel.

Try fastenal and greyhound for shipping rates if the deal will accommodate terminal to terminal only shipping.

I recently used freightquote to ship some 612m. Price was much better vs trying to go directly to UPS or FedEx. Wheels were shipped on a pallet with foam insulation between the wheels for protection and strapped to the pallet.
