Woodcliff Lake, NJ – July 5, 2023… BMW of North America today reported Q2 2023 sales results for the BMW and MINI brands in the U.S.

BMW Brand
In the second quarter of 2023, BMW brand sales in the U.S. totaled 87,948 vehicles, an 11.5% increase from the 78,905 vehicles sold in the second quarter of 2022. Through the first half of the year, BMW brand sales total 170,414 vehicles, an 11.7% increase as compared to the same time period last year.

BMW Electric Vehicle Sales
Sales of BMW’s fully electric models continued to grow as inventory has become more available. Through the first six months of 2023, BMW sold a total of 17,964 fully electric vehicles, already surpassing the year-end total achieved in 2022.

“The word is out – the ‘Ultimate Driving Machine’ is also the ‘Ultimate Electric Driving Machine’,” said Sebastian Mackensen, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “As the enthusiasm around these great products grows, we continue to gain both momentum with customers and BEV share in the market.”

MINI Brand
MINI brand sales in the U.S. totaled 7,585 vehicles in the second quarter of 2023, an increase of 47.8% vs the 5,131 vehicles sold in the second quarter of 2022.

X5 sales numbers tells a lot about the market.
Oh also, hello haters; big grills are killing it.

A few notes/surprises.

-4 Series propped up by i4 but still impressive numbers nearly doubling the sales of the other car models.
-5 Series selling on par with 3 Series is a bit of a surprise.
-SUV sales more than double car sales. Unfortunate tale of the times.
-iX sales surprisingly better than I expected.

Might be a dumb question, but does bmw report how many M’s were sold? Wondering if they’ve seen more M deliveries compared to last year

Not really a surprise. Once BMW caved and started passing through the $7500 ev credit on leases, inventory started finally moving.

I would not have guessed there have been over 1000 XM's sold YTD. Higher than I expected. It's got the Z4 beat and is more than twice the price.

Never have seen the M numbers. But BMW counts the M Sport cars/SUVs as M units.

Surprised with XM numbers. Wonder if sold means sitting on dealer lot or actual customer ownership?

SUV sales was 47,808 compared to 40,140 car sales for Q2 2023. That's not close to double. Think you looked at the BMW brand 87,948 total by mistake? Or were you referring to Q2 2022?

I met one of them last month At BMW fun run. He traded a E Mustang that was a couple months old. I will acknowledge it was fast but having it behind me reminded me of Steven Spielberg's movie DUEL.

I wish BMW would provide more granularity with so many sub-models.

Do you mean to show a picture of the XM? If not, what is the significance of this?
