Opinion about my 135
I am convinced about replacing my 04 G35 coupe with a 135....really like the Black Sapphire/red interior....My questions are:
I have never owned a BMW , so i am not very knowledgeable when it comes to options/packages/add ons et al.....I would like the 135 equipped with A) leather, particularly the aforementioned red and B) auto....that's it....not interested in really any other options, not even a sunroof, nav, I drive etc Is this a reality from what youve seen in terms of BMW optioning?...also, based on the options i desire, what do you think I should expect to pay?...Finally, would you tend to think the color combination (Black/red) would be hard to find? Thanks! |

If you go through your local BMW online configurator.
& work through the options for a 335 coupe, it will give you a pretty good feel for the way things are selected. You can keep things pretty basic, if you're prepared to do a factory order.

You're looking at about $3,200 in options. Leather, Auto, and metallic Paint. You could add and extra $1,100and get the premium package equipped with leather and a bunch of other things.

the red/black interior is what i like to but most likely you will prob have to special order it which thats prob what i will end up doing and the options/packages are all up to you. to me i would pick the red/black a sunroof and the xeon lights that all i want on my car but Its All Up To You.
Excellent Color Choice:roundel: |

I doubt it. The press release indicates that Leatherette is standard on the "1 Series" but doesn't specify which model. Making leather standard on the 135i would also be a slap in the face to all those 335i buyers who have to pay for it separately.
Standard leather just doesn't fit with BMW's American optioning strategy. |

The Canadian product planning bulletin states leather or 'ette
- that's the way the 3er is offered as well.

Thanks for the great info everyone....I really think the black with red interior is stunning, and really unusual(at least around here)
One of the posters mentioned "factory ordering" which i have questions about 1) Is factory ordering an "ordeal" ie long wait times, BS from the dealer about when delivery will take place? 2) Does ordering from the factory ruin your leverage with repect to price?....my G35 lease is up in exactly 12 months, so I have to time things well...I dont expect to realistically pay under MSRP, but with factory ordering, are you charged over MSRP 3) and finally, with factory ordering, is it possible to order my options "ala carte" vs a package?......again, the only options I want are black metallic paint , that hot red leather interior , and auto..... Thanks again for indulging me.... |

I have wondered the same thing. I think the dealer is more motivated to move the stock on the lot that he has already invested money on. Most people seem to say that their dealers will not be charging over MSRP, but I wouldn't expect much less than MSRP.

If you are ordering a car that is not even out yet there is no way you will be paying under MSRP. That being said I highly doubt you would pay over MSRP. I can honestly say that my dealer would not be charging one cent over MSRP for me to order the car.

That's the deal on my deposit, too. Frankly, I would rather pay MSPR to get exactly the car I want than save $750-$1,000 off MSRP and be stuck with a bunch of options I don't want or a crummy color combination. You buy a car like the 1er for emotional reasons and, hopefully, keep it for a long time. Better to get exactly what you want than haggle on whatever car that happens to be sitting on the dealer's lot.

I'm sure this will be common. Plus a lot of those dealer-ordered cars are going to be optioned to the hilt with Active Steering, iDrive, etc.

That may be true at first, but i'd bet eventually the best deals will be the ones on cars that are already sitting on dealer lots. Again this won't occur for quite sometime after the cars release.

I agree with you in theory 100% about ordering a car and paying slightly more than one on the lot to get really what you want....However, I can't help feeling that I may order a car from factory and wait, and wait, and wait for months, which can be excruciating.....In South Florida, unfortunately getting lied to by businesses is the rule vs the exception...and since the car i will be replacing with the 135 is a lease, timing is important.....but man, that black with red leather interior is exquisite..... this may be off topic, but you know how retail establishments post their hours of operation on the front door or nearby.....Here in South Florida, you can always count on a business opening from 10-15 minutes past when the sign states, which makes me mental....my running joke whenever a place opens late (Starbucks, my barber) is "your sign should read 9am or whenever we feel like"..... |
