Friend's brembo brake have a problem. any ideas?

this is F82 M4 and he upgraded with brembo 6P brakes.
as you can see in the image, brake pad, rotor scored right above where the metal part of the pad is placed. so in my opinion it's not debris caused this to happen
is this caused of bad brake pads? or improper brake install? or bad driving habits? any ideas?

The technical term for that is disc scoring. That is a very severe case!

As there are mutiple lines, it is unlikely to be foreign material getting between the pad and disc. More likely to be a problem with the pads, poor pad material, contaminated pads, faulty pads with incorrectly mixed compound. Unlikely to be from overuse (unless the other side looks the same). Could also be from faulty disc, but less likely

Makes we wonder if the pads are legit, ie could be fakes?

I have no idea what those little circles are in the pads but since they directly line up with where the pad is worn more it's safe to say they're softer than the rest of the pad and are the cause of this wear. I'd contact the pad manufacturer and see if they can shed some light on it; I'd say they owe your friend new pads and rotors.

Those "circles" are rivets and are how the brake pad material is attached/held onto the backing plate.

Going that deeply into the pad material though? That doesn't seem right...

Yes, they go quite deep into the material. My Ferodo DS3.12 are the same way, except the rivets aren't significantly different in wear/hardness from the main pad material.

Looks like those rotors are way pass min thickness judging by the leftover slotted marks.

Was the wear always like this since new or did it only recently happens? Are the other corners of the car showing same wear?

I've heard of cheap iron rotor rings causing bad wear but nothing this extreme.
