Start/stop button surround
Am I the only one who feels the start/stop button surround looks ridiculously cheap, like it was lifted from a Walmart bargain bin. With any luck, BMW rushed this detail for the auto shows while intending to provide a proper part on production vehicles.

The one on my e90 is 10000% nicer looking in nickel finish. The e82 looks to be plastic and cheesy to me.

i'm hoping the car in SFO was thrown together for the show and that these things are sorted out (i.e. orange peel, misaligned sheet metal, plastic start stop ring)

Personnally I don't like the button because it's HUGE...that and if I own the car do I really need it to tell me that it's the start/stop button?...:iono:
But then maybe that all stems fro mthe fact that my first car had a push-button start, and all it was, was a little chrome button in the dash But either way, it's not going to stop me from getting one:roundel: |

maybe this was one of the journalist test cars and one of the idiots behind the wheel flipped the car going around the corner. They had to repaint it quickly, resulting in the orange peel, but forgot to bend the sheet metal back. As for the start/stop...i got nothin.

I'm not positive but if you look at some of the old photos(pre engraving) the ring looked a lot nicer. so I'm thinking/hoping that they just went with a cheep plastic one in the preproduction ones to show the engraving and the actual production ones will be that smooth metal looking rings :iono:

I too, prefer the one on my E92. The one on the 1er just looks a little....odd.

Hmm, I figured it would be the exact same one in all the rest of the new BMW's...
Maybe its just the "Year 1 of the 1" surround that is cheezy and plastic-looking, has anyone seen the non "Year 1 of the 1" surrounds? Maybe they will be swap-able, find one at a junk yard from a wrecked e90...
