HELP with attaching chargepipe to turbo

Hi, so ultimately I wound up stripping the screw that holds the chargepipe to the downpipe, so I drilled it out, put a new screw in, and the mounting point on the turbo split in half, so the bolt no longer can work. Are there any other ways to secure the chargepipe to the downpipe? I’m thinking hose clamp on each and tying them together. Thanks

Replace the turbo or remove it and take it to someone that can weld it back in place.

Unfortunately, your options are limited. Try having a machine shop weld material on to the turbo and then tap it as a first attempt or, if it doesn’t work, the only other option is to buy a new turbo. Do you have a picture of the failed hole in the turbo? Third option is to use this an opportunity to buy a set of hybrid turbos

I don’t have a picture of mine, but found one online that is basically the same thing. I’m going to try to use a silicone coupler with clamps first to join the two together

Is it possible for them to weld a piece of metal onto the turbo without taking the turbo out of the car?

Not sure if there’s room to get the welding head, electrode and filler rod + two arms down to the turbo flange. Access looks tight/limited. I’d still show this picture, plus a couple more pics taken farther away from the turbo to show more of the engine bay, to machine shops and see what they say about adding material and tapping the hole. If you do try this, please remember to have the shop disconnect the ECU and TCO - you don’t want to destroy these!

Keep an eye out for take off turbos. Going to be cheaper than all the time you spend or people you pay to fix it.

Man, that’s a bummer. Unfortunately, you will need to replace at least that portion of the turbo housing, which means removing the turbo. The only possible temporary fix that comes to mind involves several strands of safety wire. Try running wire through the charge pipe hole and around the turbo housing to hold them together. IDK, probably a bad idea but that’s all I have to offer. Good luck with it.
