Pulsing interior buttons
Hey folks,
I think we already had similar thread, but I can’t find it. I noticed that my interior lights and SOS buttons are constantly pulsing/flickering - no matter the engine is off or on. Is that something normal? I wish we were able to attach videos, but at least I can share the photo with buttons I am talking about. P.S. Passenger air bag logo is not pulsing. Thanks! |

I think its a common issue with these models. I did leave my car at the "headless chicken" dealer and stayed there 12 days, yeah that was me
![]() I picked up right away, when I (luckily) found the cause of the problem by trying the dimmer option. And they (still) couldnt find what the problem was. And cant say anything about it, I suggested them to read these forums. They only said, my case is still open between the distributor and the manufacturer. But I dont expect any further actions from there to come. So yeah, we should use it at %100 if it bothers. |

Thanks for your reply and sorry to hear about wasted days in the service!
Yeah, I checked today, and it is less visible at 100% brightness. I would recommend BMW to use better led lights without PWM (at least at such a low rate)… |

I took delivery of a 2025 BMW X2 XDrive28i in late December and I just noticed this week the pulsing issue mentioned. It only occurs with the SOS icon and overhead light icons and it's very, very subtle. I doubt most would ever even see it, but now that I have I always do lol. I'm wondering if anyone with this problem has successfully had it fixed because the last thing I want the dealer to do is start tearing apart the headliner and inducing rattles (the car is so silent and solid for me) for something they can't even fix. If no one has ever gotten this fixed I'll just learn to live with it...

I had a post for this. I guess, im the first one cursed to see this issue lol ![]() https://u11.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2065962 So I think its a common issue and when I put the light's dim setting to maximum it stops. Like you, I am very sensitive about the robustness of the parts, so I didnt want further investigation from them and learned to live with it ![]() hope this helps, cheers! |

Hey,
As mentioned above, if you put brghteness at the maximum, the pulsing effect should dissapear. I don’t think this is something wrong (I hope), rather this is how PWM (pulse width modulation) works. You can Google it for more information. This method is used almost everywhere (from screens to light bulbs). The darker the lights gets, more pulsing effect will be visible. Thanks! |
