It might just be baked on brake dust. Have you tried a more aggressive brake cleaner like SONAX?

Diablo is garbage, sub-par product. I would try P&S brake buster, any iron decontamination and an all purpose cleaner diluted strongly. If that doesn’t work, after spraying down the wheel with a good lubricating soap, use a clay mitt or clay towel to see if that removes the contamination.

It does looks like baked on brake dust. Follow the recommendations by peelerec. Brake dust can be extremely stubborn to come off after repeated heat cycles especially after getting wet.

Diablo Gel is one of the reasons why I never buy Chemical Guys stuff anymore LOL. Sonax is one of the best wheel cleaners I've ever come across. It smells like death though.

I have a terrible amount of baked in brake dust.
The guy I bought them off said it was from endless brake pads. I tried claying a small section but it only reduced it a bit Ideally I need a soft buffer in the shape of the one in the photo attached and a product that will shift it. Can some post the name of the Sonax wheel cleaner? Thanks |

I bought a range of Sonax products. All very good. I bought that wheel cleaner and it cleaned the wheels quite well but didn’t make any impact on that baked in dust |

Looks like oxidation or salt damage to me and I don't think that will come off. But if you think differently, disregard opinions in a vacuum here and take it to a professional detailer.

I was thinking that it could be salt damage as well but then again it only in one wheel so I’ll try the wheel cleaner it like $20 before I go get them fixed

Salt damage usually shows up as pitting and/or bubbling/cracking in the paint. From your picture, it looks like a substance that is sitting on top of the painted surface.

Have you tried a clay bar? This usually does a good job of removing stubborn stuff from wheel surfaces. |

I got this hard cut foam tip that runs off a drill via an extension thinking I could get in and access the endless brake pad built up dust(previous owner said the pads were the cause)
I could target the area but barely any shifted I need a product that will soak and somehow loosen up these baked in deposits? Imagine it will have to be something very strong. |

I cleaned them with Iron x. Did a decent job but for the baked in part in the rim behind the spokes it required serious rubbing with neat iron x and a Microfibre.
It’ll take forever at this rate! |

Man, that sucks. I had this happen on my s2000 wheels and it took my 3-4 weekends and a lot of elbow grease. The ‘00 s2000 had a very simple 5-spoke design and it still required 6-8 days to clean the wheels. 763M are more difficult to clean. Do you have a different car to drive while you clean your wheels? I did and that’s what allowed me to eventually get the wheels cleaned. Good luck!

I should put on the 666m wheels with winter tyres that have become wall art in my gaf! I just love the 763m so much now I’m looking at a second set but with Cup 2 for summer. I think your right though. Take them off an get them properly cleaned The rears are mint and look so much better than the fronts! |
