debadge or not?
pick up my 135 on Thursday...company car too which makes it all the more fun when it comes to mpg and other consummable costs. Anyhow, Dealer just contacted me to ask if i want the "135i" badge removed? He then went on to say some customers went in the other direction and asked for an "M" badge added i.e. "135i M"..umm?? What's the general feeling on this? I'm against de-badging in the same way that i would not de-badge a Rolex. But, adding an "M"...does this just shout "would have been an M3 if i could afford it!" ???

Im going to proudly show off my 135 badge. I dont see any reason to debadge or toss an m on there. Its a great car as is. Let people know what it is. you have an m on your steering wheel and shift knob. thats good enough for me. Only thing I might add is a dinan badge of i go that route.

The 135 will be coming off mine. The only way mines getting any more //Ms on it is if I buy the door sills at some point that it comes with in other markets.
Nothing on the exterior. |

I saw a 328i coupe two weeks ago on my way to Yankee stadium and it had a turbo badge on the car as well as an M badge. I highly doubt this tool had an aftermarket turbo on a 328i. I was utterly in awe and disgusted by this display of poserism! It definitely was not a 335i because it had the exhaust pipes on one side of the car.

De-badging is debatable and if that's what you like then fine.. but putting a M on a car that is not a M is ridiculous. It screams POSER... imho

This is the second time this has come up. Why anyone would add an M badge to a car is beyond me. Its not an M car, so to do so would be poserish at best. If you're going to do anything, debadge it.

thanks all for the comments. Responses as i expected...will go for the full de-badge i think. Can't wait to pick her up, 30 mins after i land from the transatlantic flight...feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. can't wait to hit those fantastic Austrian mountain roads and then the Autobahns when i head out to Germany for a road trip...just hope its better than the 350Z i was otherwise thinking of ordering.

I am a veteran de-badger and the 135i is not too bad for badges. I usually leave the make and model on the car. When I first saw my Z4 I knew the 3.0i on the sides had to go. I left the Z4 on the trunk. I have a 06 Tacoma and I took 6 badges off that truck. It still has the TOYOTA and TACOMA on the tailgate. That is way too many badges on a vehicle. I believe when the vehicle was designed all the badges were not factored into the design. Sticking chrome badges and decals all over a vehicle takes away from the intended look of the car.
