Need input from wheel guys...

A friend of mine has ordered a 328 ZHP with 197 wheels. He likes my wheels (135), I like his. Can we swap? Here are my concerns/questions...

1) Do (or can) we swap only wheels or do we have to swap both wheels and tires. (I'm doing a ED in July, his doesn't get here until end of June, so probably same (roughly) miles on each by the time we can swap)

2) Can this work? I noticed that the 328's wheels are a bit different in size... 225/40 18 front/ 255/35 18 rear. 135 wheels are 215/40 18 front/ 245/35 18 rear.

3) Do I want to do this? I track my car and want the best rubber to road. It looks like I may be gaining some rubber with this swap? Or am I just confused?

4) Any other issues at play here? Fit? Weight?

Any input would be great, even comments on aesthetics.

Thanks, Jose

I prefer the stock 135i wheels. I think that they fit the car perfectly. And I also think that the 197's look great, but more suited for the 3. I'm sure that doesn't help you at all. Sorry!

The offsets are probably quite different.

Don't know whether the swap would work, but I too prefer the 197s over the stock wheels.

If the 197s are the mesh more BBS looking wheels they won't fit. I noticed it on a 328i and inquired, but the offsets are too much off. I wonder if spacers would work though. Ask your parts associate at the dealership though.
