4 inch Micro Antenna for Convertible
If anyone is contemplating buying the convertible and is put off like I was by the ugly 14inch rear quarter mounted radio antenna, I have a solution.
Go to http://www.bimmian.com/ and order like I did the 4 inch Micro Antenna. There is no loss in radio reception at all. BMW should have installed these as standard. They are $25US plus shipment.. I purchased two incase one gets pinched seeing the Fedex was $45US for delivery. I placed the order on line last Thursday night and it was delivered this morning. Here are some before and after shots.. |

No Probs..That was taken at 8.30pm in my dark garage..
Got a bit excited after installing in the overall change in appearance. Give me a couple of days.. The photo doesnt give the whole look justice..The rear transformation is amazing, that such a small and inexpensive mod has made such a aesthetic change to the cars total sporty appearance. |

What's the deal with the shark fin on the vert. I am sure I've seen overseas photos with the fin on the boot lid.
Am I wrong?

The shark fin on the overseas verts is for Satellite radio connection if fitted.. Not normal radio reception. |

That looks good
I think all convertibles are better off with a neater/smaller antenna... I've got a very nice looking Richbrook brand item on my Astra T vert, it not only looks alot nicer, it works alot better too  |

Ummmm, I have a question......and its only now Im thinking about it...and Ive ordered the 4 inch Micro antenna.... You know how the factory install is a rubber one...it flexes, right? What happens to the metal one if it gets caught on something? There will be enough flex & movement in the rubber base to stop it damaging the paint work, right? Is it "flexy" enough on yours zuzu? |

There is zero flex now even with the rubber base... BUT..What are you thinking it might get caught on that might rip the rear fender and antenna off.. |

Hmmmmmm, Car wash places...chamois galore...and the blokes there are pretty fast when they clean.... you know what the water restrictions are like in Sydney, so doing it yourself is ok....but you know at some stage, you will take your baby to a hand car wash cafe thingo...:iono: I love the look of it & will still use it...but I'm going to look a right twat if I unscrew it, then replace it with the other one when I take it in |

Bah! The neighbours will throw rocks at me if I start using the hose on the car in my driveway on a water resticted day!! Possibly I could wash the car inside my house...although my fiance.... she would have something to say about that. I'll just have to be mindful of the antenna when it gets cleaned. No biggie. |

Don't use a hose. Get a Karcher high pressure washer from Bunnings. They are about $150 and an suck water from a bucket. It is extremely effective and extremely economical on water. I love washing my car so hate taking it to the cafes (though ocassionally I am lazy).
