Manufacturing Defect with Passenger Rug
Hello,
A couple of weeks ago I found a minor problem with my beautiful new 1. The rug was coming up a bit right at the passenger door (near the front of the seat ). I finally brought it in to service yesterday. The BMW mechanic said he went around to all the 1s on the lot and they all had the same issue. He fixed mine by adding some more foam padding and gluing it down, but he said he thinks this might not be a permanent fix. He thinks the rug was manufactured too small and submitted the issue as a possible future recall candidate. He thinks BMW should replace the original carpet with a bigger piece of carpet. Anyway, its a very minor defect, but I thought I would give you all the heads up. In sunnier news, I hit my break-in mileage! OMG I love revving this thing! I can't wait to hit the curvy biways of west marin today!!! |

I saw that as well when I picked up the car. I shoved the end back under the trim and no problems since.
Has anyone noticed the leather under the seat folding lever exposing the seat padding? Mine seemes to have been trimmed a little short. |

I have the same problem with my drivers seat. Seems as though the leather may have been trimmed a little short. I am probably going to take to the dealer to be changed. Passenger seat is fine.

I hope the 09's don't have this problem. For a $35K+ car it has more minor problem than a $32k Pontiac

Leather/leatherette short or wrinkled near lever...
I also had this problem PLUS the leatherette was wrinkled (driver's seat only) near the lever. I took it into my local BMW Service, and they fixed it somehow. They unwrinkled the material and glued it firmly down under the plastic lever cover.

GREAT To SEE THIS !
I thought that this was going to be another one of those "Joseph Is NUTS" problems.
If you step on the rug in the "right" place is does indeed come out from under the molding and has to be pushed back under. Also, the leather on my passenger side seat bolster looks "lumpy". One more thing: has anyone noticed a larger than acceptable "gap" between the seat and plastic Airbag panels on the side of the seats ? Don't get me wrong I LOVE driving this car more than any of my (3) 3 Series, but there are a few details that annoy me. Joseph
