Popping noise
I hear like a popping noise on the right front side of my 135 when I hit a bridge or drop off pavement. Do you all have any idea what this may be? It has done this ever since I brought it home from the dealership. The salesman told me that it may just take awhile for everything to settle right and that if it didn't quit to bring it back. Well it hasn't quit.

I had a popping noise coming from the left front side...I could push the corner dash and re-create the sound. When I took the car to BMW for and oil change I showed them the problem....and they actually fixed it. They had to disassemble the entire dash and then they put more insulating in and used felt strips. It's solid now.

I've had this EXACT same noise from my 1 since day 1. Definitely sounds like from right front suspension. I've checked out the suspension and everything seems tight. I ended up putting lowering springs on and the noise was still there. Car went to the dealer for some other issues so I decided to mention it to them, but of course they said it was due to my aftermarket springs....which I know is BS since I've had the same noise since new. Let me know if you end up figuring out what the pop noise is.

My Fiance's brand new 135 pops behind the passenger side dash as well...seems to me like its a thermal expansion noise because it is much more prominent when the car has been sitting in the sun and is baking on the inside and we have the A/C cranked up. After the car cools down then the popping gets much quieter.

People tend to confuse recalls and service bulletins.
There is a bulletin for a front end noise under certain driving conditions, and it involves replacing the swaybar mounts. Whether or not it applies to any of the cars in this thread, who knows? Instead of jumping to conclusions, take it to the dealership and have them figure it out. |

Mine has been making the EXACT same noise on the front right side. A kinda loud pop when going up curbs or speed bumps. It freaks me out a little sometimes...

Are you sure that the pop doesn't come from the RFT (run flat tires)? I find them really noisy compared to regular ones.

No sir, Ive gotten rid of those a few weeks ago and the noise is still there... It sounds like its coming from deep in the far right side of the dash, or somewhere from the suspension maybe.

Sorry for digging up an old post, but has anyone solved this?
I get exactly the same thing. At times a very loud knock sound from around the glove box area. The one thing I have noticed recently is that I believe it only occurs when the air conditioner is on.... I really want to get rid of this because at times it is so loud it gives me a big shock while driving, how did you guys go? |

Mine has completely gone away. I had actually forgotten about it until this popped up.
I had to have my windshield replaced, and I can't recall hearing the sound after that, but I'm not certain that was what actually fixed it. |
