FedEx delivered intake today
I've seen only a couple of short reviews or observations about the BMW performance air intake, so I'll throw in my 2 cents after mine is installed next Wednesday...just in time for Christmas.
I have no delusions of grandeur...I'd be lucky to even get anything close to 4-5hp. What I'm looking for are better throttle responses hopefully over a broad rpm range, some fill-in for a large dropoff at 1500 rpms and some semblance of quicker acceleration. There won't be any before and after dynos. It's not worth it. Will just have to depend on the old butt dyno. Thanks to Dan at United BMW for filling the order and providing excellent packaging. The pic below is the air duct housing. Only the top half is carbon fiber but it is a very nice piece. I didn't bother unwrapping the other components. More to come later.

Nice! I'd love to hear your impressions. Are you going to install it yourself? If so, could you please do a DIY? I am considering this later this year.

Sorry, I'm having the dealer install it because I want the full warranty (labor included) on this thing. It's an expensive piece and with my mechanical inexperience it's better left to those that know.

jksgoh...
Dan's already beat you to the punch. He requested a before and after engine revving video which I'm doing.135iUSN... I got the intake from Dan's website which discounts it to $790 vs MSRP of $988. My dealer quoted $126 for the install. I know it's expensive but there isn't anything else on the market that I heard of other than the BMW product.

Wish I Had One
Congrats on the purchase. Please do a write up on this once it's installed. I've been reading the thread over at the E90 forum regarding this intake and it supposedly draws cold air not just from the front of the car, but also from the base of the windshield area!
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184580 I would have the dealer install as well. It's probably a bit more complex than a typical aftermarket intake. |

Intake Install Delayed
My intake install scheduled for tomorrow had to be postponed until next Wednesday, New Year's eve due to back to back to back to...(you get the idea) winter storms battering the Northwest.
My service advisor told me it's best to keep the car garaged for now. I've been shoveling snow and ice the past 5 days in anticipation of getting a break in the weather and potentially making it in to the appointment. However, I know he's right. Better safe than sorry. I will report my impressions with hopefully a short video in a new thread after the install for those still interested. Have a safe and happy Holiday Season everyone!!

Hope you'll appreciate it. I know I do - the sound alone makes it almost worth the money !

Please keep us updated -- especially interested in seeing comparison shots of the entire intake before installation...along with shots of the old intake after its removed.
