Xenon Headlight question

I know it may sound like a dumb question, but does anyone know if the inner headlights actually turn on, or is it just there for looks?All i get out of it is the angel eyes. Or maybe mine is deffective.

It's the high beam, and it comes on when you're in the reverse gear, and initiating turns.

they're not high beams, they are cornering lights that come on when making turns, or driving in reverse. The high beam function is solely through the xenon module.

And your light switch has to be in the 'Auto' position.

Thanx fellow 1Addicts, for the info. The whole set up seems odd to me, after all there is a bulb in there, guess i'll have to pull up to a store window at night and have a peek. My father owns an X5 with the adaptive headlights, and even his inner lights dont come on usually, But his M Z4 did.
