New (to me) Z4MC

Just traded my 2007 3.0si for a 2007 Z4MC, 19k miles, CPO. Came with tint and, more importantly, CDV delete! It was a turn-in previously leased by one of the master BMW techs at the dealership I got it from. Absolutely nothing wrong with the car. Totally different characteristics from the si. Added clear bra while I was at it. Needed it for the drive from Atlanta. Here are obligatory pics:

Nice! Can you really get away with that front tint?

Thanks. Yep, the tint's a concern. I doubt I can get away with saying it's 35%

you probably could get away with saying its 35% cause the contrast of balck to white plays tricks on the eyes but then the LEO would pull out this thing with a lazer and it measures the tint percent.

I was lucky enough to test drive one and was very dissapointed when the drive was over and had to get back in my 2.5i. Its literally a night and day difference.

@fins: Congrats! Now you have to have a carbonfiber roof. At least that's what I was planning to do if I got a white one but I ended up with a black.

@Roffle Waffle, I used to have 3.0i, so I'm not able to answer your question directly, but I can tell you from 3.0i to M is a BIG step. Engine sounds and responds completely different. Suspension is stiffer. The car unfortunatelly is heavier and it is easy to feel that.

i started considering the CF roof when I saw the car waiting for me. It compliments the dark tint. What are those things going for these days?

nice car gotta love alphine white (i had two cars in the color!) Personally i don't think Cf roof is worth it unless u have a lot of money to spare or is just a hard core track junkie. If u are after look get a good shop to cover the top with vinyle and u should be good to go.

Carbon roof- Only saves 6lbs anyway. If it was 20lb+ from the top of the car then I would consider it. Some guys here in Chicago are doing a carbon fiber vinyl wrap of their roof (M3) and it looks good. Plus they can peel it off at a later date if they desire. I think it costs a couple hundred for the wrap...if you so desired the carbon look.

Not sure there is but look for a vinyl shop that wraps cars/buses and the like for commercail purposes. That is who does it here in Chicago. They have to special order the vinyl though. You might check the E46 M3 boards in your region to see if anyone has already found a vendor...could save you some leg work.

Almost forgot to say- Conga-Rats on the new car!

Look at previous post http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=249797. Sure looks like an $8K swap cost. Low enough to sorely tempt the si drivers among us...

Yep, those were pretty much the numbers. Plus the $500 rebate from BMWCCA for CPO cars. I just sent off the paperwork today. That's $500 of newly found mod money!!!!

Had my shop run the meter on it. 17.5% !!! They said there was no way they could approve it unless I got a Dr's excuse saying my eyes were sensitive to the sun. I was told the most they could go was 28%.
