One of them uses a metal bushing that can be noisy at times... Can somebody chime in on which one it is?

The 135 comes with a solid shifter from the factory but I do have a few customers running these on the 335 and they love them. The engagement is more precise and shift throws are greatly reduced from the factory row boat box.

Yep, the BMW SSK was one of the first mods I did along with the CDV mod... What a world of difference it made.

The BMW performance kits are different between the a35i and 335i, but other kits are universal....

Similiar, but there are differences. It's best to wait until Rogue is completed with theirs, here's a sample of the pieces included with e9x M3 kit we just installed over the weekend on our M3 project:

I was able to 'dry-try' the Active Autowerke SSK on their S/C'ed E90 M3 while I made a short visit (sadly not while driving the car :-( The throws are def shorter, no metallic clanking of any sort, and smooth as butter. Force needed was slightly more than stock as one would expect, but nothing excessive that you need a wrestler-sized forearm to operate it.

Fit and finish was great too. I just love the stock ///M shifter 'head', the AA is metal IIRC which in my previous experience heats up a lot in the summer and is very cold to the touch in the winter. I wish someone made an illuminated one!!!

You can retain the factory shift knob with the AA kit. I love the M shifter that comes with it but the weighted AA knob is designed to aid engagement.

Nick, Just out of curiosity, the AA SSK is a shorter throw than the BMW performance correct?

If 8%, than that is barely noticeable. On all my cars, BMW or other I have had at least 25% reduction, anything less IMO is not really giving you much feel (other than removing the typical BMW general 'sloppiness')

Yeah, the BMW perf. is a pretty good amount shorter, so I would guess its at least 15-20% shorter..
