Who's got the turbo M3 that lost to an SRT4?
Jacksonville on Southside blvd
I have an srt-4 and had the pleasure of spotting a very nice looking black M3. I thought it I'd have some fun and see if he wanted to screw around. And, well, he did. We turned onto southside blvd and on the 3rd honk we took off. It seemed he stuttered a bit during launch, but i didnt let off. So i basically started with a 2 car headstart. I looked in my side view mirror and saw a blacked out fmic. This guy should have walked all over me. There's no doubt. But i maintained a 2 car lead for the whole race. Im not here to talk trash, I just want to know what happened. He pulled up next to me afterwards(we caught up to traffic) and wouldnt roll down his window. And thats when i heard his turbo spoolin, so i knew for sure he was turbo'd. We didnt have a chance to run again, but hopefully if i get the opportunity again, i'll get my rightful loss. lol and yes, i know street racing is stupid. so i'd prefer not to hear it. |

I think it must have been a bone stock 335 you raced, there are some Super Charged (SC) M3s but none are yet turbo. In any event, SC M3s are running at least 560 bhp so I think this could not have been the case. Hence, a 335 that was probably not pulling too hard. A turbo M3 would, although unlikely, would require an entire engine rebuild and low compression pistons to say the least but would run more PSI than an SC, so you would be looking at a 650 plus hp vehicle. I don´t think this is what you faced either. Even then, I doubt an SRT4 will beat even a bone stock 335 (if you look at official ratings the SRT4 is almost a 6 seconds 0-62 etc... that is worse than a stock 335), let alone an stock M3 and much, much less an modded M3. In any event, I´m glade you think you beat an highly modded M3. I once beat a highly modded 1,000 hp Bugatti with my shitty stock M3, then I woke up!! Hahaha!!

this is the model m3 i raced. only pic on google i could find. he had an M3 badge(which i'm now hoping was accurate) i know the difference between a turbo and a sc. and his backfire was a helpful giveaway as well.(gave me goosebumps it sounded so good) a 335i would not beat me. i never said I was stock. my srt4 runs high-mid 12s. this was without a doubt in my mind a turbo'd M3. i wouldnt have gone through the trouble of signing up and making this thread if i wasnt so baffled/flabbergasted/insert other crazy word no one uses, as to why a 500+hp(at least) m3 didnt make me look like a fool. |

is this really necessary?
no, not everyone can afford M3s. I can, however, buy my shitty stock neon for 1/3 the price, put 100 bucks into it and stay even with a stock M3 but im not here to talk trash, so lets stay on topic plz |

Most likely in your race, the M3 didn't get good traction on startup and had a hard time finding traction through second gear. Edit: Don't worry about the guys giving you crap for owning a Neon, although you did ask for it a little bit by coming on here just to talk about your kill.

Many possibilities...
Untuned, dead clutch, dad driving his son's car, motor in bad shape, or ebay turbo setup. I've ridden in some nicely tuned turbo e46 M3s and they pull a lot harder at freeway speeds than my current M3. If they handled as well as any of its other brothers, i.e. e30, e36, or e9X; I'd consider an FI'd e46. They have the aesthetics going for them. Allen

Another thought was that he didn't realize that he didn't have his E46 M3 in "sport" mode. Though, some of the other reasons are also probable.
And in reading the original post...Spyder1727 isn't bragging, he's inquiring about what possibly went wrong since he's well aware that the M3 turbo's should have smoked him... Also, remember a stock SRT-4 Neon can keep up with a stock E46 m3. spyder1727...have you posted on M3Forum.com which is more centrally focused on E46 M3s...but be warned that you will get flamed big time unfortunately.

I'm not aware of any Turbo M3's up in your area, however, our lowest boost mode is around 440RWHP (7psi), if he were in that mode that puts him mid to high 12's in the 1/4 so that could have been the setting he raced you on.
No hate toward skittles here they can move Regards, Evan
