Too much Engine oil

Not sure if this is the proper section.

My car was indicating low oil so I went to the deal and the moron put too much oil in and now reads Max and the indicator shows the level pinned at max.

Has anyone drained it before with any sort of pump?

If can I just stick the tube in the oil filler and suck it from there?

Welcome to the club...

My dealer did the same damn thing. You'd think BMW would train their mechanics how to properly work on their cars, but apparently not.

Anyway, I brought it back, told them they were F-ing retarded and got a free oil change out of it. They had to drain the oil, and when they measured it it was less than 1 qt. over. But at least they put all new in.

I seem to always have a bad experience whenever I go to the dealer. I get sic k to my stomach whenever I walk in needing something cuz 98% of the time they fuck something up or dont do what is asked.

Unfortunately I cant take it back as their close now and tomorrow and I need to drive the car

It's bad for your engine, engine damage might occur because the pressure could blow a bearing.

I overfilled last week. kept the revs low and took out the front drain plug.
That only lets out about half to 1 liter of oil. Then you should be fine.

I had that for my first 2000kms service and they told me it's perfectly fine until I show them the owner's manual. Overpriced and stupid = canadian bmw dealerships

Well I just used my extractor to suck out enough oil so the reading was within the parameters.

What a complete pain in the ass. I opened up the oil filter reservoir and thats where I sucked it from. Seeing as you can only extract about 100ml each time I ended up starting the car, waiting for the level to read shuting it off taking off the oil filter cap, extract, put it back on starting.....4 times. Im so pissed right now I want to take the extra oil I extracted and dump it on that guys head on Monday!

Use the front oil slump to drain your MAXED out oil.

The front oil sump is 0.5L. do this until your level is perfect.

Great suggestion .

But first learn how to properly measure your oil level and make sure it's overfilled indeed .

One thing is still bugging me.

I drove the car for about 50km and from the amount of oil I extracted (400ml), is that enough to cause damage to the enigne whether big or small?

Is it still coming up as a warning saying it's overfilled?

C'mon. That's less than half a liter. Don't give it another thought.

No it's off after I took out the 1/2qt of oil.

Didnt know if that would be enough for the crankshaft to froth up the oil in the pan.

Just needed some assurance.......... thanks

No that isn't enough to cause any damage to your engine. Relax and enjoy life.
