Black or Titanium silver

if you had it to do all over again, and say you could only buy one exterior color between these two,, which would you buy?

I have had 3 black cars and I can tell you this: if it is your daily drive then go for silver. If it is a weekend/fun car then black. Black cars look better in my opinion, especially a BMW sports car no question.

Again it depends on a lot of factors like how much time you want to invest in detailing.

The thing about light coloured cars on the new Z4 is that the black outline of the convertible top seals can be seen easily and I personally dont like the look.

i have had 3 silver cars prior (325ci, G35, 335Ci), but i went Jet Black with my Z4. for 2 reasons, in AZ i can wash my car whenever i want - and i enjoy the satisfacation of a good detail. AND the black paint hides the breaks in the retractable hard top, gives a seamless look.

on the flip side, i love how lighter color cars (like silver) show all the beautiful BMW lines. my black z4 hides most of the shadows created by the sharp lines on the Z4. i don't think you can lose with any color on the Z4 (except for maybe that mohave )

either color i reco red leather, really pops on a convertible. gives the Z4 that extra level of flash!

I must be a nut, but I think the darker colors show off the compound curves better; I think it might have something to do with all of the sun we have here in Texas

I have gone with BLACK on my last 3 BMWs, I get frustrated everytime its gets dirty, and hate to wash it as with the weather here that could be everyday, but once it is cleaned up there is nothing as pretty as Black, it really shows off the lines and as was mentioned, no ugly top seal is visible.

Have to add that I have seen Z4's in every color, and like dollar bills - thee are no ugly one's [referring to factory colors only].

No-one can tell you what color does it for you

i completely disagree, and speaking of sun i am in AZ land of the sun. 330+ days of sun.

Plus just think about it? Lines, on most cars, create shadows on the paint. which shows depth and beauty. how can you see shadows on black paint? less depth, argueably less beauty.

just my .02, please argue my point....as i chose black!

No one drives a Z4 because it is a practical car, so why choose a practical color? When clean and shiny, a black car is a beautiful thing. Get a black Z4 and keep it clean. Is it more demanding than keeping a silver car clean: maybe, but file that under the demands of driving an impractical car.

Black. Makes a statement and demands commitment
Silver is a compromise

The convoluted reason I chose black:

What black does IMO, is bring the glasshouse forward which visually shortens that comic-book long front (a matter of personal taste). The black A pillar on lighter cars can visually disappear giving a floating roof effect that starts, unusually, way more than half way behind the middle of the wheelbase. This creates the illusion that the bonnet (hood), which I'll call the engine cover to avoid transatlantic confusion, is more than half the length of the car since the distance between the front of the roof and the trailing edge of the engine cover, which is always black on the e89, gets disregarded by the brain.

When the whole car is black, the A pillar becomes part of the roof bringing the whole glasshouse forward to the engine cover. Photoshoppers out there could try making the A pillar body-coloured on a silver or white car to see what I mean. Credit goes to my niece, a designer, who showed me why I liked the z4 in some images but not in others.

Despite metallic paint being standard on the UK 35i, I chose jet black instead of sapphire as its it is easier to deal with damage.

Titanium silver is nice but it's getting old. It seems like half the BMWs on the road are titanium silver.
