Powerchipped

Went down to Costa Mesa today and got Powerchip's Stage 2 software installed. No dyno graphs yet, but the power gains are very obvious. First gear just zips past and I got more wheelspin in second gear than I've ever felt before. I had a chance to run it through the top of third on the highway and it pulls really well. It's deceptive how fast you're going. It doesn't feel that quick, but then you look in your mirrors and see the cars that were just next to you are almost out of sight.

I will give the software a good couple of months and some dyno pulls, but my initial impressions are completely positive.

Please post the dyno graphs when you get them...

Yes, FStop, the difference is quite noticeable, esp. in M mode. For twice the fun you can always have Jeremy or Travis set you up on their race gas map, even if it was just temporary, it's a blast. Glad to hear you are enjoying it.

Also nice to hear that they're finally back in their building after the fire. (My shop is down the street from them and I know they were "garage-less" for a bit.)

Their shop is pretty swank, red tile floor in the garage and marble tile in the office. That's how you have to roll if your shop's next to Newport Beach.

Actually PC is in Costa Mesa off 17th street and there is only one office so you are correct.

I was there on Wed getting a new tune on the 997TT- damn its even faster now!!!!

I had Jeremy tune my M3 also, what a difference a tune makes.

Its worth all the money. On my M6 I allowed them to try multiple tunes and they all got better. The throttle response, tq and hp gains are great but even stronger when you couple it with a catless exhaust!!!!

Easy access up Superior from PCH too...

One of the biggest benefits I realized when they started tuning on my e92 two years ago was that the proximity to the shop made it so easy to update/upgrade or change maps for whatever fuel I was running. The re-programming takes seconds and both Travis and Jeremy are great guys to work with.

I am also very happy with my PC tune. Mike was great to work with and my tune was on par with what you said. I am also very eased. The car feels even stronger after a coue months....but it is colder now too!

Anyone feel that the powerchip tune helps get rid of the low end torque loss caused by adding an aftermarket xpipe?

I do have some questions:
- I'd like to know the gains on 93 octane - I was trying to get some info off the website and all I got was some generic PDF that listed gains on a 323i...
- What happens if the dealer overwrites the tune, are subsequent reflashes free?
- Is there an authorized shop in the middle of the East Coast somewhere?

I have an xpipe and the pc tune.

In my experien e, there is only gains with the pc tune. My car feels much more responsive now....low end, high end, it doesn't matter...the car is faster across the board.

No affiliation, etc. Just very satisfied with the pc tune (and the x pipe and envy charge pipe too)! Lol

Same feelings here- the car feels better from a dig, in the midrange, and much better up top.

Sorry...

Website is out of date... luckily our software is not!

Subsequent flashes do carry a reflash fee. It's a common misconception that when a car is flashed back to stock at the dealer that we simply put the file in there that we originally tuned the car with. In actuality, we have to program the file again almost completely from scratch.

I ususally offer my customers a one time free reflash.

Please PM me where on the east coast you are... the middle is a broad area..

Thanks!
