Top up or down in garage?

So what is the general rule with the top?

Do you put it up when in the garage over night?

Leave it down?

Whatever . . .

Just wondering if it is bad on the top to leave it down for extended lengths of time, or not a problem at all.

I don't have a vert, but I'd probably leave it down if it was only overnight or so. Personally, for anything longer than that, I'd leave it up to prevent dust, bugs, and whatever from getting in/all over the interior.

Overnight or a day or two I'll leave it down. Any more than that and I'll leave it up.

Leave it up. Long term sitting with the top folded will just make the wrinkles from folding permanent. Top up means fabric stretched. Top down is like a folded shirt in a drawer - creased.

This is what I figured, but I just wanted to confirm.

I guess I could allways move the steamer to the garage and steam the wrinkles :-)

If the car is sitting for more than 10 minutes I put up the top. There are too many horror stories out there about leaving the top down and a quick storm coming up and the water damage that ensues.

To save on wear, if I bring it home with the top down and am driving it the next morning, I'll leave it down. It goes back up at work.

When I had a vert I always put the top up.

Spiders just love to make themselves at home in the car (especially during the Spring and Summer). Not to mention the bugs the die after being trapped in the hot garage that end up on the seats.

After finding a few dead bugs, a spider web or two, and hearing that Click and Clack "Black Widow" episode I decided top up was the way to go. Especially since I've found a few of the little hourglass sporting nasties hiding in the garage. I usually roll up the windows in any car that stays in the garage....

Note: The Click and Clack episode was about the guy here in the Sacramento area who had a zillion baby black widows in the car . (One solution the gave to "fix" the problem was to set the car on fire; I think the other was to fumigate....)

Did I mention I don't like bugs?

Top down, windows down, doors open, storage compartment & glove box open, and boot lid & hood open?

Perfect configuration for dealing with those people who always want to drive the car. "Sure, you can drive it, but be careful about the black widow next to the clutch pedal....See, there it is! There's a few more running around in here somewhere too."

Of course the downside is then trying to get the spiders out of the car....

Of course, if you're finding you need to spice up the driving experience, this adds a whole new level of excitement to the experience....
