End of 1 Series?
Before I buy a 128, has anyone heard anything about the discontinuation of the BMW 1 series in the U.S.? I've heard two different things both from BMW dealers. One tells me the end is insight, another tells me that's hogwash? Thoughts??

Can't see that happening--we are supposed to be getting the M1 in about a year's time--can't see them stopping the sales of the 1er over here....

The 1-series is a huge seller for BMW, so rumors of it going away are - IMHO - without merit.

While this may be true for the entire world, in North America I don't believe that it is true. The One series is only 10% of the sales of the 3 series and the big profits are from sales of the 5 series.

Do we really need another 5 page thread based on a comment from one ill-informed dealer? It's hogwash. With the 3-series moving further and further up-market, they have no choice but to have a lower entry point.
