Anybody Seeing More 1's?
So we are starting the 4th model year for the 1 here in the States. But it seems they are still fairly rare on the streets. Here in Phoenix, where you can't walk 20 ft without tripping over a 3,5, or 7, I'm still only seeing about 1 a month, if that. But I did notice it only took me about an hour to see one on a recent trip to LA.
Is it just here, or have you started noticing more of them driving around? |

Hmm, there are three within a block of my house, and I generally see two or three others every day. I'd guess that I see one convertible for every two or three coupes, and see about the same ratio of 128's to 135's. I couldn't keep count of 3ers if I tried.

I usually don't see many, but then last week, I saw several. One was driving through my office complex, and a couple more near my house. I also saw two Sparkling Graphite 135's on my way into work one morning. I guess my SG 135 isn't that rare anymore.

Bought me about 3 weeks ago and have only seen one 135i since then. I guess Southern NH is not a hot bed for the 1 series. Neither of our two BMW dealers had a new 1 series on the lot last week. I'll keep looking.

Actually, in just the last couple of months, I have seen a ton more.
Whenever I see a 1, I try to make contact with them to tell them about 1Addicts. However, the majority of the new drivers are the "Much Older Woman, LOTS of makeup, huge buffon hairdo, driving 128 (usually the gold colored one)", and somehow, I don't see them as "Car Enthusiasts". But hey, we keep the sales up, the car keeps coming. Also have seen a few older guys who look like they are hitting their mid-life crisis. Hey, what better way than a 135? Go for it. When I hit mine, I'll just pump up the HP.

Tons here in Vancouver. See different ones all the time. Near me I know of a Space Grey coupe, a cashmere silver vert and a white coupe. Occasionally see a TiAg coupe near work.

You bet. And we've been around enough to know how to not get caught doing it. 9 spirited years with my Z3 and not a ticket...

I do a ton of driving around the city so I see 1/day on average. Mostly 128i 'verts though. Very few 135i coupes.

Nick,
I have been seeing more and more 1 series in the last 2-3 months all around the Tampa/St. Pete area. I might have seen you once, do you ever drive on the Howard Franklin Bridge? They are still rare but slowly becoming more popular. Brian

On LI I see one 128 every week or so and a 135 maybe once a month. In Syracuse I have only seen 2 128s in the last 8 months, and I only saw the second one today. It really depends where you live

I saw several when I lived in Miami, at least once a day. But there is simply a ton of BMWs in Miami.
Here in Dallas I see maybe one every couple weeks give or take. The 3ers, 5ers and 6ers are much more popular here. Last edited by brad t; 04-26-2010 at 08:23 PM.. |

I've seen them sporadically here in the Bay Area since I became interested in them around 2 years ago. I'm fine with it being less seen than the 3 and 5 series, which are everywhere on the road.

I am in "small town" land...
at least, compared to many of you, but I see several every day. Now, I do live in "BMW" country. We have a manufacturing plant 5 miles from my house, I think this adds without doubt to the number of BMW's in area (even those not manufactured here). One of my best friend's works in upper management at plant, has four BMW's in drive...two are 1 series, going to tour the plant with him soon.
