Eibach Spring feel so bouncy in local street?
I had the Eibach springs installed for 3 weeks now and I noticed that my car drives fine on the high way or at high speed but when I hit local streets where there's uneven roads, it's bouncing around even when I have the EDC set to normal. Not sure if the springs caused it or is it possible that the installer f---ed up something? I hate this bouncy feeling so much that I feel like I should uninstall it. Any Eibach members out there have this problem?

they are just ever so slightly more bouncy that OEM. After a year of having them I can't even remember how much more, it's not even noticeable anymore to me. I did notice when I first installed them the car felt a little "darty" over bumps (if you know what I mean) until I got an alignment, then it was all good.

Got to align it before you make a call like that. Even new tires without a 4 wheel alignment will make the car feel off.

This shop installed my springs and did the alignment at the same time too. Maybe they skipped the alignment? After I got my car back, I do feel like my car is steering to the left on the highway when the road is straight.

The M3 needs a much more sophisticated alignment than regular bimmers, not all shops have the equipment/software to do an M3.

I think you're supposed to drive for a couple hundred miles before getting an alignment because you need them to settle first. I've had mine for two months and it never felt any more bouncier than stock. I never even got an alignment.

I've read just about evey Eibach spring review on this forum and you are the first one to have this problem (bad enough to write about it)...I'm wondering if your installer messed up? Although, I don't know how they could...springs are pretty straight forward.

I know man. I feel so pissed off about it too. It's very jumpy. It's like the whole car is shaking when I go over the bumps and that's the EDC normal setting. I feel that the car isn't so tight or strong like I used to feel with the OEM springs. I guess what I am saying is the unsafe feeling I got when I drive it. I'll bring it to Bart's shop in NJ for him to take a look to see what's wrong bleh.
I get to the point where I thought about selling my car when I was driving it yesterday lol... But I will put the OEM springs back before I do this.

I got Eibach's put in just over a month ago. I thought they were a perfect fit for the car. The ride was firmer, but not harsh, and the car seemed more settled (relatively) in corners and they match the EDC well. My first thought was that these should be the OEM springs. It sounds like something isn't right. Do you have the right Eibach model for the street, i.e. Pro Kit?

alignment will fix your issues.... They can't really mess up the install, it would be almost impossible to put the car back together if you didn't have it right.

I took the car to Bart's shop in NJ and they found nothing wrong with the install. I am not sure if I need a wheel alignment done cause the guy did it already. Maybe it's just me but I find that with EDC off or in the normal mode, it's too soft or bouncy on the local street. I end up driving the car in the EDC stiff mode all the time... Maybe I should get KW3 or RD springs.
J08M3, I will get an alignment done to see if that will fix it... Just for the hell of it.

^-- I'd be surprised if you had everything set right and you still thought they were too bouncy and were unhappy with them. They do feel different than OEM, but they are quite nice for driving around the street.

The factory bump stops are limiting shock travel, which is causing this phenomena with your springs - Steve Dinan talks indepth about his spring kit including shortened bump stops which allow the factory shock to travel the way it was intended to (you can probably track down this video using the search function). This is why we encourage coilovers from the beginning

I don't think the tires have anything to do with it because I had these new tires and wheels for 2 weeks before I had the springs installed and I didn't feel this way. I am using 19" Conti. Extreme Contact DWS with 285 in the rears. I feel this as the moment I have the Eibach springs on.
I think it's just me but I don't know why I feel so annoyed and irritated by the way the Eibach feels while other members love them so much. Maybe my shocks are dead... I got 31k miles on my car. I do feel like the car is loose sometime when I go over the bumps. Like the car throws my body up in the air and then I drop down back to my seat and this isn't how the M3 should feel. You know it's like if you take a springs and wiggle it around...? I don't feel like the car is planted on the road when it happens. Anyway, thanks all for your inputs. I'll drive with the stiff mode for now and I'll get either Kw3 or RD Sport springs to see if there's any different.

RD springs alone will not solve the issue you are having.
I also think that it feels the way it does because you are driving in full stiff mode, and perhaps you like a stiff ride overall, but the bouncy feeling you are getting is because you are driving in the city in full stiff mode. NYC roads are not exactly smooth. KW V3s or any other coilover with SA or DA shocks might suite your taste better because it will allow a wider range of adjustment.

If your after springs, research DINAN springs which include modified bump stops and I believe top hats (Please don't quote me on the top hat's but I believe DINAN modifies them). However, you can't go wrong with coilovers

The eibach springs are made to work with your stock bump stops without trimming them. The best folks to ask for this opinion in regards of switching out or even modifying the bump stops is eibach themselves since they are the ones who designed the progressive springs. There is a thread somewhere on here that list out that the progressive springs work together with the stock bump stops as the stock bump stops has some progressive pressure to them as well to correlate together. If you get coilovers, you will need to buy the EDC delete to take care of that issue. Most folks and reviews here have no issues with eibach at all. |

I agree. Even the OEM suspension in sport mode is bouncy on city roads. That's why I normally drive in normal mode.
