DP's equal quicker spool. Quicker spool mean's less throttle, thus the same throttle movement from before actually means more. Also, your probably driving a bit more enthusiastically, you probably don't even realize it. Lastly did you replace the o2's? That will help mpg if your car is over a year old.

I am not sure what effect it has on these cars, but I know that a lot of turbo cars that I have tuned or been tuned can really richen up when being lugged around with a high load @ low RPMs. Ideally 2800-3000 rpms would be where I would shift one of these during normal driving. Like I said though, I have yet to datalog a N54 in the light chassis of the 1 series.

unless something went wrong with your install (damaged o2 sensor, etc.), you should be getting the same or better fuel mileage. try resetting your computer for mpg and start shifting at 3-4k rpms instead of 2k. if that doesn't work to increase your mpg, trouble shoot to see if something was damaged or incorrectly installed when the dp's went in.

Wow, why did you put dp's on if you shift at 2 lol
Seriously though, you probably either damaged a o2 or just have too much city factored in the new mpg estimate.

Anyone know what the gains would be alone with just DP? Maybe done a before and after dyno and can post the results?

the gains of downpipes are best when you turn up the boost. you'll notice decent gains at stock boost levels (15-30 whp and tq), however. personally, i wouldn't go through the pain in the ass install, risk the emissions implications, or have dealership concerns if i was just going to run stock boost levels after the dp install. |
