Need help with setup.. rubbing
Hello
Im running a 10.5 rear wheel with a 22 offset with 295/30/19 advan ad08 tires. front is 9 inches with 13 et and 245/35/19 Suspension: kw v3s on lowest setting front and rear Im having a rear rubbing issue where its not rubbing the top(eventhough very very close maybe 3mm) its the lower quarter panel (near driver not rear bumper) where its rubbing. Its literally maybe rubbing 2MM or so. What can i do to address this? Also the front is rubbing on the fender liner minorly. Im honestly very scared to drive car as i feel like the front on a big dip can come up and break the fender and the rear might mess up my quarter panel as its so close! If i raise the car a 1/4 or more of an inch will the rubbing stop? Im trying to figure out if this will happen no matter what height or if i need to replace my front/rear tires as the advan ad08 run very agressive! Im sure if i was a running a tire without such a square setup i would have no problem. NOTE: i had these tires on my car with rd sport springs and i had no rubbing problems at all, i took some agressive turns and it never rubbed. Will getting 295/30/19 michelin pilot sports fix this problem? thx Last edited by 1cleanm6; 09-20-2010 at 01:29 AM.. |

Your rears are simply too wide for the suspension/wheel setup. With that amount of stagger, the understeer is going to be substantial too. As for ride height, the big advantage in having a coilover suspension is the ability to corner balance the car, and that will determine final ride height. But if it is at the lowest setting, it's probably too low by a good margin.

Curious why you messed with the setup...josh wasn't rubbing? Advan are known to "Run larger" than others...they're very square.

I wanted to make the car a better handler. I believe im very close. Very has VERY minimal body roll, suprising VERY little oversteer, and it just grips like a mofo! Im very happy with it, Yoko doesnt make 285s or else i wouldnt have any problems, the big problem here is i cheaped out on not getting ps2's . Couldnt justify spending 2g's on tires. If i had ran a 245/295 with its round sidewall i wouldnt have any issues. Its a little too much hassle to get my tires replaced now. I just have to live with them. Im confident Darin @ westend will fix this issue. |

If people are able to fit 275's on the front without rubbing there's no good reason you should have problems fitting a 245 unless you went with "bling" offsets for "stance" instead of focusing on how to fit the most tire under the fender. A 13mm front offset tells me there's tons of room toward the inside of the wheelwells. Take advantage of it.

BTW for reference I am running 255/30 and 325/25 Pirelli tires on my 20" wheels and Eibach springs without any rubbing issues. |

Out of curiosity, what is your rear wheel width and offset?

If I were you I would just keep the tires and raise the car a bit. The handling probably isn't great with the kw's at their lowest setting either... if you do end up raising the car, make sure to snap some pictures before. It probably looks amazing as is.
