Powdercoat paint ZCP wheels
Ok so I've got a new zcp coming in a month and I'm wanting the wheels in black. What's the best way to approach this?
1. Just buy aftermarket zcp style wheels already in black OR 2. Have the stock oem wheels it comes with powder coated. I really don't want to explain #1 to the Mrs. If I go with option #2, is it a matter of going to a tire shop and have the tires removed, then taking the wheels to the powder coater, then taking them back to the tire shop to have them remounted with the original tires (this won't damage the tire right)? Or would it be best to just wait and do this when I've worn through the stock rubber? Thanks in advance!

Any wheel shop that does powdercoating, etc will be able to dismount, remount and balance the tires. If not, find another wheel shop capable of doing so. I got two quotes for powdercoating my OEM rims and both included the tire removal and mounting.

mounting and remounting tires wont damage the tire.
the powdercoater that i used to get my advans done was not a tire shop, they only specialize in powdercoating. so i had to get the wheels off, tires unmounted, bring them to the powdercoater, get the job done, pick up the wheels, bring it to the tire shop, get the tires mounted. yes, it was a long process and was a little bit of a hassle but worth the effort.

Thanks guys! Hadn't thought of looking at wheel stores for powder coating, was just going to have a powder coating place do it. Do they keep the car there while they're powder coating?

you could leave your car on jackstands at home while they get the wheels powdercoated. usually you have to leave your wheels with the shop or at least 1 or 2 days to get the work done. i generally dont like leaving my car at a shop unless i really really have to.
