2012 M5 (F10) Spotted with Silver Production Wheels
This F10 M5 was just spotted at the M division R&D center. There have been more revealing F10 M5 prototypes, but this test mule features the first clear look at the M5 production wheels in silver finish. We have only seen it in a black finish until now.
The front and rear bumpers have previously been revealed in earlier photos (posted below for reference). The 2012 M5 is expected to make its world public debut at the 2011 Frankfurt IAA autoshow in September 2011 (with an online reveal a few months earlier) and will be powered by a tweaked version of the S63 V8 twin turbo motor from the X5M/X6M, good for what we believe will be 585-600hp. I don't think those rims make the car look aggressive enough.

Can't wait till this beast is officially done!
I like the wheel design, but prefer the gunmetal color. And of course black window trim. Mirrors on Ring test car look production ready. They look like regular F10 side mirrors in the new pics.

Do you see in 1 shot it is lifting front left wheel off the ground? wow.. there must be some serious swaybar or something there in the front...

This car doesn't look aggressive; however, I wouldn't want any attention. Stealth is the name of the game.
One thing I do want to comment about the TTV8. I had a chance to drive an //MX6 last Sunday. Car was beyond fast. Just a constant hand pushing me back into my seat. I imagine the M5 is going to be...umm a rocket? Twin Turbo Rocket. This car will be up to par to some of these two door rockets! I can't wait 'til I see this thing. |

Why do people think that this car will have more than 555 PS? The X5/6 M engine is complete and they are not going to modify it just for this car and the M6. The M5 will already have an advantage over these two hulks with respect to mass to power ratio and the addition of a superior 7 speed, 2 clutch gearbox. Look at the upcoming 1M- probably will have the 335is/Z4 sDrive35is/740i/Li engine in it, no changes. And that will be good enough for ///M status.

you guys must be looking in the wrong places. there is a power bulge in the hood, hidden by the camo (check the second picture, i think you can tell by shape of the reflection). the car does look a bit wider to me also. the window trim will surely be black on production cars, this is just a mule. and the production wheels may also be machined face / grey inserts similar to the previous M6, e9x M3s w/19" wheels, and X5/6 M cars. even in silver they look beautiful on the 5er.
subtlety is definitely the name of the game. i think M cars have been called too aggressive or flashy in recent years, and this could be somewhat of a response to that. i really love the way they are putting this car together visually. just by these forum reactions alone, to me, the car is going in the right direction. the details aren't immediately eye-catching, but to the enthusiast the designers have made just the right adjustments to make its presence known. i'm not saying it's for everyone, or that those who don't like it aren't enthusiasts.. i guess that's just my preference when it comes to style. |

rims are ugly
they remind me of the M3 18s, which I hate. I am sure there will be another set of wheels which will be optional. These simply don't look aggresive or big enough for the body.

I agree they do look a lot like the M3 18s. But, while the M3 18s don't look great in the newer silver finish, I do really like them in the original gunmetal. Similarly here, I think the M5 wheels would look much better in gunmetal. In fact, they look better on the test cars in the semi-gloss black color, frankly.

I imagine without the all-wheel drive, the M5 is going to shine. |
