ESS 600@6psi 60-130 times added
The other day I went to ICS in Stamford Ct to have my car dyno'd. ESS wanted me to test some new software. We were testing on my VT2-625 kit with a 6.5 PSI. *Normal VT2-625 kits have a 7.5 PSI pulley. *We wanted to dyno the new software before increasing my boost to the normal 7.5 PSI of the VT2-625. The boost gauge at ICS is still broken so the only boost data we collected was on my in-dash boost gauge by P3Cars. *Please see the video for the boost gauge.
The guys at ICS were great. They donated their time to us for all the dyno time we wanted and testing new tunes. *They wouldn't even take our money for it. They are true enthusiasts and only wanted us to make great power. They even offered to dyno for free again when I get the 7.5 PSI pulley on the car. *I'm hoping to do that today or early next week. Dyno Results for SAE Corrected: Dyno Results for STD Corrected: Dyno Results for Uncorrected: Boost log analysis: 6.6 PSI Video ****UPDATE***** After our results the other day, AJ@ESS sent me another ECU tune to test, told me to put on the 7.5 PSI pulley, and head back to the dyno. *So we headed back to ICS and they opened their shop and once again donated their time to the project so we could Dyno on a Saturday afternoon. AJ's new ECU tune ran amazing. *On the 6.5 PSI runs, we ran a 94mm pulley, and now we switched to a 92mm pulley and flashed in the new ECU file. *All I can say is...WOW! *The HP/TQ curve is so much smoother than before. *AJ told me that he modified it to make it much smoother. *You can see the difference from our last runs a few days ago. The boost gauge at ICS is still broken, so once again we had to rely on the boost gauge in the car dash from P3Cars. *It's less accurate, but we did the best we could to decipher the numbers from the video and map them on a boost chart. *We used the trendline method to calculate boost, and it calculated an average of 6.4 PSI. *That's a lower average than our runs a few days ago. *If you look at the video frame-by-frame, you can see the boost doesn't ever get above 6.5 PSI until the very last boost spike at the end. *Even though it had a lower average boost, I just didn't feel right calling it 6.4 PSI after we had changed pulleys. *So for now, I'm calling it 7.0 PSI until we can get te boost gauge on the dyno fixed and head back for some more accurate readings. The car drives amazing. *The power is so smooth and linear. *This car is no joke, and the 595whp on 7.0 PSI is no joke either. *Like usual, all of the dyno files and boost spreadsheet are available for download from the Dyno Database (see below). *I've got videos of the dyno runs, but I shot them on my cell phone and they ended up sideways. *I should have those fixed later today and I'll post them once they are fixed. What's up with your AFRs? They're all over the place, and pretty lean for a boosted car regardless of compression. Nice numbers though, the car is laying down some power.

these are great numbers!! thanks for sharing and provided thorough information on all conditions!

img's AFRs are MUCH leaner than even m33's. i'd love to hear more information as to the reasoning behind the tune and AFRs simply for knowledge sake. either way, it proves that ESS is not only making great power, but also a lot of reliability.

richer AFR's are ideal on lower compression motors Wait until i take you for another whip AJ ( ESS Tuner ) is simply AMAZING , Got an Email from him asking to load a new ( tweaked ) file and to slap on the 7.5psi pulley... and so i did , results will follow shortly as i couldn't resist and called George @ ICS and got a response of """ Get your Ass Over hear fast """... and so we Dyno'd........ |

On the S65 engine there is no need to run in the 11's until you breach the 7.5-8PSI barrier. You can easily keep the EGT's in check and make considerably more power on conservative boost in the low/mid 12's up top. In the mid range where boost is only 2-3PSI low/mid 13's is ideal for max torque development. Attached is a dynotest of another version of the kit with production spec AF ratio targets. |

Thanks AJ! I only have experience tuning factory turbocharged motors, but it makes perfect sense to run it lean if EGTs are in check.
