Question XPipes with Stock Muffler - Raspy?

I'm selling my megan racing mufflers ($550.OBO) In the mean time I want to throw the stock mufflers back on until I decide what I want to get next. I want to keep my fabspeed non-resinated xpipes on though.

Anyone have xpipes with stock mufflers?

Did you feel significant difference in speed/ power?

What about the volume and tone of the exhaust?

Any Videos out there??

Here's a picture just because;

Thanks.

I'm curious as well.

Also curious, how did you like the Megan?

yes you will difinately hear it. having aftermarket axle back they tend to hide the raspiness of the exhaust without resonator. The aftermarket axle back are usually loud V8 sounds so with an xpipe they tend to hide the sound of the rasp.

now if you want to put the oem axle back you will difinately hear the rasp. Oem axle are too quite to be able to hide the rasp sound on an aftermarket xpipe... but to me honest it sounds mean with just a little V8 sound...

I have the Active Auto resonated x-pipe with the high flow cats. It sounds raspy, but it is not unbearable. It is not a terrible sound, but you will definitely be looking for another axle back as soon as you hear it.

Original Poster : What exactly is wrong with the Megan Racing axle back ?

That video pisses me off 3/4 of it is the car accelerating towards the camera then once it passed the camera he is off the gas...on top of some lame ass music. Who films shit like that when they are trying to sell you an exhaust.

Not that bad, a touch of rasp but it gives it that high tech "crisp" sound vs. the bassy sound.

They were trying to hide the rasp

I am also interested in getting an Xpipe w/HFC+resonators while keeping the rear oem exhaust. Right now I am trying to decide between either Akraov or the Challenge. Hope somebody can chime in with a vid of one of these setups. I think going this route seems popular. Get rid of the primary cat which gives you the best power increase (as opposed to the oem secondary) while the HFC takes care of any unwanted exhaust smell and the resonators well eliminate or keep to a minimum any drone.

For the Akra, you'll need special adapters

it's not plug and play like the Challenge

What adapters are needed? Do you mean the electronic leads for the cats so no CEL is set or an adapter that allows the Akra xpipe can be bolted up to the stock rear?

Akrapovic X pipe will only work with the Akrapovic slip on. This has been discussed many times, I guess you're new here. The slip ons come with adaptors to work with the stock x-pipe but not the other way around.

Any deletion of the primary cars is going to cause a CEL.

I would just get the challenge x-pipe since its cheap. And if you don't mind cutting your stock shit then get the Fabspeed or Sosi since they are even cheaper.

You can use the Akra xpipe with the stock rear if you get adapters

But it won't be a straight bolt on

Thanks Persian....I don't want to cut the stock exhaust, want to save it so I have the option to return it back to completely stock. From my searches here I see that you are also looking to get an xpipe/HFC+resonators? Make any choice yet? I was leaning towards the Challenge xpipe. Next was how to address the CEL. I have read some thread here that mentions that some have used the Challenge Sport (hfc/resonator model) and NOT had a CEL. As a backup plan I was also thinking about getting the "extenders" that are used by some that re-postions the O2 sensor so it does not throw the CEL.
