real world MPG on ESS VT1 kit

...I'm curious what kind of MPG city/highway some of you ESS VT1 owners out there are getting...overall avg etc.

I'm about to get a VT1 kit installed and curious how much lubricant will need to be applied @ the pump

I've had the VT1 for close to a month now. What I've noticed is that driving it hard, my mpg would take more of a dip than when driving it hard under stock. Then again, I am getting such a huge boost in power.

Now, driving it mildly I noticed that I actually gained an extra 1 mpg. I tested this myself by putting the car in cruise control on the same level stretch of highway a few times stock, and then a few times after the SC install. Hey, I'm not complaining!

My commute for the day is 41 miles, and I burn through about 1/8th tank of gas when driving mildly. So I guess that's over 19 MPG. When traffic is light, I like to accelerate hard. Those days, I could burn through almost a quarter tank of gas! All-in-all the fuel economy meter tends to settle at around 17.6 mpg.

If you're interested, here's what I did to get hard evidence on the mpg changes. On that level stretch of highway I mentioned earlier, I would sometimes reset the MPG meter and let it run for a few miles on cruise control in 6th gear at 65 mph. I was getting 23.5 mpg stock. After installing the VT1, it would consistently settle at 24.5 mpg.

my avg is low

...heh, I guess I drive harder than most. My "unmodified" MPG avg is 16.9-17 I could only dream of 22+mpg. I did get 23mgp in cruise control @ 75mph going to vegas...but that's not my usual style.

They do have nice stuff, although as you can see from above the other companies have the same result.

It really depends on how you drive your car, the gears you usually stay in...and if you know how to modulate the gas pedal.

I had better mileage on my E36 M3 with a VF kit compared to stock. I can say the same for my E46 M3 AA S/C.

I've had my VT-1 installed for 2000 miles (total on car 7,500 miles) and agree with the MPG info given above.

Hard driving and the power is amazing but so is the MPG (low). Keep off the throttle (hard to do) and you can expect an increase of 1 MPG.

To the OP: Good Luck, be safe and Enjoy!
