Raising rev lim to 8600
I've herd on the older m3s that if you don't have engine work you will blow your motor raising the rev to 8600. But what about the e9x m3 I really don't think raising it 300rpm would be that big of a deal. Just curious if anyone has had any issues

Dinan only does that on the 6MT for reasons someone else can hopefully chime in on....

Dinan tune raised my DCT to 8600. It is for a little more time in the power band of the car. I could say it doesn't make that much of a difference in the first couple gears but 3rd and up it helps slightly.

I went for an even 10,000. It's best to shift at about 9,500 but it's always nice to have the extra room on the tach in case you want to hold a gear until the next stoplight without shifting.

I raised mine to 40,000. It helps prevent carbon deposits from forming.

I'm going to raise mine to 18K so it sounds like an F1 . Seriously, raising the limiter is the stupidest thing you can do to a stock engine. Plus your engine warranty is no more (yes, max revs are permanently recorded on the DME). Just crazy, but to each his own.

300rpm on an engine like this is nothing... and if it is BMW has some serious issues for releasing a car with a rev-limit so close to the limit that if you go another 300rpm the engine will fail... not going to happen... The M3 GT4 also has the rev-limit raised and from what I understand the engine internals are stock.
Hell even my Integra Type R a measly Honda mind you had the rev-limit 1000rpm higer then standard and after thousand of miles even on track never had an issue, so I donīt think it is an issue on the E92 M3. Just wish people would stay on topic instead of making funny remarks on a serious issue. |
