Ordering process???

Hey guys - I finalized all my paperwork yesterday to order a new M3. I asked my salesman if he could forward me the build number or some kind of identifier once the car was officially ordered. He shot me a message last night around 6pm and stated that it was too late in the night to put an order in, but he would "try and get my name on a car" today (Saturday). Well today came and went and still nothing.

Now is it really that hard / time consuming for the dealer to order a car, or am I just overreacting? I'm ordering a 2011 and I'm not sure how much time I have left, so I'm getting kind of nervous.

^^If you need any assistance or have any questions feel free to shoot us an email. Ryan's email is in my signature below. Just let him know your a forum member. Your dealer may not have any allocation left for 2011 which would mean you would have to wait till 2012 models become available to order which could be end of the month or mid to end of next month.

One more time: the first question before ordering should always be if the dealer in fact has an allocation to sell at that moment. If they cannot answer that question then they do not and there will be no production number until they do have one.

I asked the dealer and they said that they did have an allocation for a 2011. However, my car STILL isn't ordered. They shot me an email last night and said that they are "finishing putting together my build" and will send a build sheet today for me to sign. I thought this was more of a 30-45 min process and it has taken a few days. Does it sound to anyone else like something strange is going on?

I ordered a E90 last week from Ryan and he emailed me the Production Order Number within 2 days. As of today, it's still waiting to enter production, but at least I got an order number. Hope they get you your order number ASAP....

Yeah, that seems to be the norm - mine is going on a week now. I'm almost about to pull back my request and go to another dealer or maybe even look used.

My dealer did the order while I was sitting at his desk. Didn't take long at all.

Well, my dealer just got back to me and stated that the allocation that they had went to a build status before they could modify it. They said that they picked up another allocation from a different dealer, but are "waiting for it to hit their inventory". This whole thing seems a little ridiculous IMO.

I walked out the door with my production number, on a Saturday... But my dealer had a 335 ordered for dealer inventory that they were able to re-configure as my M3. Was on the BMW website within a day as my M3.

Followed up with my dealer again today and they said they are still waiting on the other dealership to release the allocation to them. I asked him for an ETA and he said there was none - I really don't know what's going on here. How much longer do you guys think I have to get this build in? I would assume it has to be done before the plant shutdown in August?

I do not think that this dealer in fact had an allocation when they told you that they did. It looks to me like the classic wasting your fricking time.

I will not be surprised if they push you for a MY2012 when this sorry show ends.

Yeah, that's what I'm starting to think too. I just sent them back an email asking if they can put it in writing that they have received or will be receiving a 2011 allocation for me. Hopefully this will settle it either way.
