Driving barefoot
On my drive this afternoon, it was 90 degrees outside so I decided to take my shoes off and drive barefooted. Wow, what a difference it makes! I could feel everything so much better and driving was 'easier' somehow. I really liked it and just may go shoe-less all summer.
Anyone else drive barefoot? |

That's what driving shoes/loafers are for. But I guess barefoot is good too (south of the Mason-Dixon line).
I have about 3 pairs of these in brown and tan: These are NOT fun to walk any distance in though. |

BUSTED!!
You DO realize that this behavior is against the law in some states don't you? BUT - seeing as how you offer a useful contribution to the delinquency of the rest of us here on the forum we will not turn you in to your local law enforcement authorities I have done it on a few occasions right after I wash my car and want to clear the rotors off from the dreaded "orange effect". I find it amusing that with my size 10 1/2 EEE foot it's still pretty easy for me to do a heel and toe brake/downshift using the ball of my foot on the brake and the side of my foot on the gas barefoot.

Well it does make it a lot harder to put my foot in my mouth but that hasn't slowed me down much

Wow Alan with a 10 1/2 EEE, I bet you fit the box better than the shoes that come in it.
For a good selection of driving-ish shoes, I found a big selection at Zappos http://www.zappos.com/n/es/d/722001397/page/1.html I ended up getting the Adidas Racer Low and they turned out to be a very comfy shoe to walk around in. I wore them a couple of weeks ago when walking all over Jerusalem and was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately for Alan, even with a selection of 100+ driving shoes on Zappos, not a single one of them is anything but a D width. RCNet

RC: Those look really nice too. I never realized how different driving could be while doing it barefoot. As a Public Safetly servant, I always have to drive in my Rocky's or FF boot,s so tennis shoes felt like the ultimate 'feel' to me...'til I drove with my feet . I can't do that everytime though, and I'm now thinking about purchasing a driving shoe...who'd have thought?

I do drive without shoes in NY. The police are more likely to catch you on a cell phone which means rarely if ever. Laws like this are just a means to add more tickets (more money) if stopped for something else.
