My 135i Diet
We made one big mistake when buying the Helix shop car:
We opted against the sport package, thinking that all the sport bits would be upgraded anyway. So when the car came, it came with beautiful Boston Coral Red leather seats that were automatic and non sport. Big mistake. They are not comfortable, don't support you laterally, and sit way to high. It was really the only complaint that I have had about the car. Well, here's the solution: A complete 1M interior! Manual sport seats! And to further turn this car into a hybrid 135i/1M, we're going to figure out how to fit this in the car as well: It'll replace our Riss Racing cat-back (which will be for sale, if anyone is interested). The challenge is to fit it into the 135i rear valance. I'll weigh the seats and report on the savings... |

Let us know if you some how are able to fit that 1M exhaust because I have access to quite a few 1M exhausts but never picked one up since attempting to fit that would be a huge pain.

Love the 1M manual sport seats. I'd much rather have them than the power sort seats in my 135i. How did you order them and how much did they cost?

Why would you want to swap the 1m seats in for your sports seats?? They're the same seat but have orange stitching....

Whelp, that's disappointing
The total weight savings from auto to manual seats is...wait for it...ONE POUND per seat! I'm sure the butt dyno will be pegged after this modification. Maybe I should change the title of this thread.
The good news is that the seats are way more comfortable, supportive, and I can get them in a position that I want. I'll snap a couple of pics later. |

So you saved about 2 pounds on the seats... how much more does the ///M exhaust weigh?
This is shaping up to be my kind of diet: "Can I get that with a Diet Coke? Oh, and a large order of fries!" Kidding of course, but I had to say it. |

I'll have to pull out a stock exhaust to compare the weight difference. It'll be more substantial than the seats. The 1M has a unique battery box and evaporative emissions control unit that fit the lateral muffler of the 1M. I've got the word out to find a box so I can fit the exhaust, but it may take a while. There's not a standard listing for it with BMW parts. I pulled the rear valance and splash guards to see if we could sneak the 1M exhaust in the 135i bodywork, but no love. Not even close.

Wow i like the seat but only 2 pounds saving? But the exhaust look like alot of work, i rather just buy aftermarket and call it a day, beside aftermarket exhaust will weight less than stocker anyway. But people like challenge and make thing unique so good luck.
