PFC Brakes / Sensor question
I had PFC 01 brake pads installed front and rear, the dealer told me the front sensors fit, but the rears did not. I drove away and there was clacking sounds coming from the front wheel wells. My question is with the 01's, should I have just bought the front and rear sensors to start with? Or was the dealer correct that only the rear was needed. I'm ordering rears now, but wanted to see if I needed to order fronts as well. Thanks.

Those PFC pads don't have retaining clips so they sit loose in the caliper and make that clacking sound. Be prepared for some serious squeal driving around town once the get warm.

I think that will work until your brakes get really hot. I just leave the clips off when I have my PF01s in...its futile. The clattering is not nearly as bad as the garbage truck sounds.

Interestingly, the PFC-06's I bought recently do have the retaining clips so that will end the rattling. I haven’t used these yet as I still have a couple of track days left on my 01’s. Most people who install race pads for a weekend don’t connect the brake sensors.
My question is why would want to use race pads for the street? I don’t see any big performance advantage that would outweigh the lack of braking with cold brakes. You can’t always keep your brakes at temp on the street and if you need to stop quickly you’ll be at a disadvantage. You’ll get tired of attracting attention with squealing brakes too, though you may get a grin from watching everyone run to the curb with their trash bags. |

It's not uncommon for me to run with these pads for a week after an event; I'm usually too tired to change them out when I get home. Fortunately, I only have to drive a few miles to the park & ride during the week but I feel that everyone is looking at me when I brake. (they are!) |
