Danny and the guys at Megan were really great. I love the way it sounds. Its very subtle and deep at low RPMs and isnt too much on the top end. I will snap a few more pics with exhaust on the car. This is the prototype version so they may make a few final tweaks but I really thought the piece was really solid looking and very clean.
My car felt faster just from the weight savings alone... lol. This piece probably gains 20+ lbs over stock. You can literally pick up the exhaust with a few fingers versus the OEM exhaust which is bulky and heavy. Last edited by MRG Race Co; 06-20-2014 at 03:11 PM.. |

Looks nice. How does it differ from their other offering?

This is what I was told... apparently the burnt tips are new and the logo was changed. The single canister versus the double canister and different clamps. I think it is actually more of a blending of some of their previous designs versus a complete re-design; as I think all of these were available in some form on their previous models, but perhaps not all together.
ME: "If its just burnt tips and clamps why do you need a test fit?" THEM: "Just to be sure" ME: Ok, fine!! best money I ever spent!! Seriously though, this exhaust is super good for the asking price. Im really quite impressed. I hope I can work with them again... they mentioned I might need to come out for any changes that are made. |

Weird, I wonder if it sounds different. I just picked up the E90 version from their latest shipment, and mines have the same tips and the same megan logo on top of the tips like yours. I stil have the dual chamber version though, so I guess its a hybrid of new and old. The older megans have the Megan Racing on the sides of the tips.

From what they told me its supposedly going to be a OE style exhaust and will be listed under their Black series to make it lo-pro and look OEM.

Black series were a nightmare in 2011. Ive had a couple black series megan exhausts on my 2011 STI. The paint burned off of them within a week!
They were cool and took care of it by giving me a stainless one though. Because of service and the fact they sound good for the price, I rock a SS version on my M3 today. Im curious to hear the new design over the one I have (older design). I love mine. One week: one month:

The test fitter got the SS version. Someone else in this thread mentioned megan offering a black series.

Heres an ass shot with the new exhaust for those that were interested. Im thinking of switching out the tips or at least getting rid of the blue burnt tips. Not a huge fan of the burnt tip look. Kinda cheesy to me.
