Am I getting a good deal on a new 2014 X1?
I sold my 2006 325i yesterday and I am looking to buy the new 2014 x1 s28i.
I test drove one yesterday, but did not have the right options I needed. I was told that I can build one online and it will take 5-8 weeks to get it delivered. The dealer offered me 5% off on the "built" MSRP and another $750 since I owned a BMW before. I was wondering if anyone who had previous experience on the 5% discount part and if that's the best I can get or is there anyone who has got more than that? Also on a side note it looks like the iDrive system is standard on the 2014 X1. Can someone confirm? |

Invoice is about 7% below MSRP and most dealers like 2%-4% (or more) profit. The $750 discount comes from BMWNA, not your dealership, so that's a freebie for them to offer. You can use bmwconfig.com to see your exact invoice for your car (*note* my build isn't possible with bmwconfig because that tool is a little broken for some X1 options, but you can manually calculate the price based on individual invoice option price info). Most people consider $500 over invoice a very aggressive offer, however there have been reports even below that. There will also be the bmw 2013 drive incentive, check the ask-a-dealer forum for information on that (extra $1k off).

Price depends on where you are too. Around me 5% off would be a great deal as we've only go 2 small volume dealers within a 2 hour radius. You might do better than that in an area that has multiple high-volume dealerships, but I would imagine that's probably pretty good either way.
As a reference, I just ordered my 2014 custom-built X1 using the military overseas program and got 6.2% off MSRP, so 5% is probably a pretty decent deal. |

Negotiate on invoice pricing. $500 over invoice before incentives should be your goal. Some have gotten deals better than that, but it is rare. |

If the dealer in Vegas doesn't want to budge, I would email some of the LA area dealers, as getting 500 over invoice is pretty easy to do in that area. |

Sites like truecar.com , bmwconfig.com , and edmunds.com are great resources for invoice versus MSRP.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions/comments.
I built a basic sport line X1 with heated and power seats for reference. In NADA it comes out to be $32,500 for the invoice and $35090 for the MSRP and the MSRP is little different in BMW website since the destination fee is $30 off between BMW and NADA. So I am ignoring it. So applying 5% discount on 35,090, I get $33,335. So that will be $835 more than invoice of $32,500. Based on few comments, it looks like I am off only by $335 since $500 is the best one can do more than the invoice. If I push for 6%, then I could get $500 more than invoice and also throw in the $750 loyalty and that should get me a pretty good deal! |

Destination just got upped to $925 in the last few weeks (hence the $30 difference between NADA and BMW).

You get screwed in Las Vegas. There are no consumer laws and dealers think you won't travel to the next city/state to pick one up. Personally, we currently sell 2013 for back of invoice and 2014 $500 over invoice. Good luck! |
