Next Gen 2015 BMW X6 (F16) Spied [Nurburgring Video Added]
BIMMERPOST NEWS Next Gen 2015 BMW X6 (F16) Out Testing for First Time Updated with X6 video from Nurburgring: With the F15 X5, X3 LCI and X4 now launched, BMW turns to completing the development of the F16 X6. The new X6 shares styling cues from both the new X5 and the upcoming X4. It shares the X5's new headlights-meet-grilles, enlarged kidney grilles and more forward leaning front fascia. Like the X5, the X6 also features air breather vents behind its front wheels. With the X4 it shares the distinctive rear upsweeping character line which extends from the front of the rear fender upwards to meet the rear tail lights. The F16 X6 should drop some weight as the F15 X5 has over the previous generation and generally retain a similar size and wheelbase as the current X6. It will share the F15 X5's engine/model lineup. This particular prototype looks to be an xDrive50i with M Sport Package and wheels. The F16 X6 has been rumored to premier as early as this Summer. |

They need to abandon the x6 and x4 and revamp the x3 already.

No they don't. The X4 will eat the X3 for breakfast, just like the X6 devours the X5 as a snack. X6 is aggressive, a man's car. Not a soccer mom mobile. Long live X6!!!

Looks underwhelming compared to the current X6.

we all know that bmw will pull this off. IMO, x6 is the most unique car/design in the bmw line-up. with the new 6 series and the lci 5 series, 2015 x6 will set a nice ground to wrap up those designs. after all, x6 and the 1 series are the only cars with the pre-revolution design.

That gif is from Top Gear, who did a funny segment on the X6. I watched that episode. You should see BMW Performance Driving School off-road course, the X6 can do everything the X5 does. Which makes sense, because it's practically the same car.
Is your point that there are more soccer moms and people who'd rather be practical and economical and buy an X3 or X5 over an X4 or X6? We already knew that. X6 is much lower volume than X5. It always will be. But this segment isn't going anywhere. When X6 LCI came out in April 2013 they were hard to get and nobody was discounting them, a sign that it was a hot item. The same thing will be when new X6 comes out. |

The front looks exactly like the new F15 X5... At least the current X6 had a different face. Why is BMW doing this? Did they fire all their designers or is their new "team" just extremely lazy? I bet this is going to have the same interior as the new X5 as well.

Current E71 X6 has same interior as E70 X5, so your bet is likely to be correct.
Agree the front is less differentiated with new generation, whereas the current generation only the X5M shares the front fascia with the X6 lineage. |

It's essentially the same car with slightly different body shell If anything, X6 could probably survive higher amount of tilt due to lower center of gravity |

Exactly. One would have to actually spend time behind the wheel of an X6 to really appreciate what it is capable of. That thing carves corners like a sports car, while managing snow, sand, gravel and 2foot high water as well as any other SUV type care out there. Hurricane Sandy put the X6 to the test and she passed with flying colors. There is no doubt that the X6 is an awesome vehicle in it's own rights, and it will be around for a long time.

And you make a valid point. When I was at the off road course at BMW PCD, the instructors said they use their X6M's when they don't have enough X5's available. Same off road capabilities, including treading 22" of water! |
