X5 50i Hold Released?
I just called BMW USA to check on my vehicle production status and they claim the HOLD has been lifted and my X5 is on a truck heading from the VPC to the PCD area.
Waiting for my dealership to call me back to schedule PCD. Anyone else in the same boat (waiting on X5 50i to be released) receive similar information? Hoping the wait is almost over! (fingers crossed!) |

No call from my CA, but I am going to check now! Thanks for the info.
Edit: Mine has been released and "waiting for carrier" Talked to my CA, and he is looking into getting a PCD date. Last edited by AresM3; 10-24-2013 at 12:16 PM.. |

Was this info from the 800 number automated system? Since 9/25 the automated system has stated that my vehicle was "released to carrier awaiting transportation to port of exit." Obviously, that's been wrong for about a month...

I called BMW North America. This time I spoke to a customer service rep instead of the automated system. The information that I have is still the same. The rep was not aware of any lift on the holds for 50i's. And, my ship date is still estimated at November 10 with an estimated delivery of November 13. I am wondering if you would get a different answer if you called again and spoke to a different rep.

I did the same thing as ckortane...after the automated response, I also asked to speak with someone. They told me that it has been released, but could not tell me where it was going, lol. I then talked to my CA, and he looked on his computer and confirmed that it has been released. He is now checking on a PCD date.

Talked to my salesperson. My vehicle does show "released to carrier" 10/22. This is new info from last time I checked. But, it still shows estimated ship from vpc as 11/10. It also shows "process confirmed" as 11/8. Don't know what process confirmed means.

November 1
Here's an email I received yesterday from my sales rep, the day my X5 was supposed to be brought from the train depot:
"I just wanted to give you an update. BMW is holding all the X5 5.0i for the official market Launch of Nov 1. So even though your X5 shows to be released, they will not actually hand it over to the trucking firm until then. Odd little BMW rules." |

Here is the latest from the performance delivery center:
Unfortunately we have not received official communication from BMWNA as far as the actual release or on sale date for the X5xDr50i. Until we receive that information we are unable to schedule delivery for the vehicle since we can't determine when we will receive the vehicle. BMWNA did announce that the launch date for the X5 50i models will be sometime in November and they will start moving these vehicles to their respected VPC, but they will not ship to us or any dealer until the actual release date in November has been determined. Below is the dealer message that was sent out today. "The scheduled release date for the X5 xDr50i is still November; however, Vehicle Inquiry will display these vehicles as “Released”, but they are actually being held at their respective VDC until the November Release Date." Wait continues...

I would really like to know why they are only holding the i50, and only holding it in the USA. or as they put it "official market Launch" Anyway, back to the waiting, lets hope the Nov 1st date holds. |

Yesterday's order
My x5 50 MSport with 20" wheels was ordered yesterday. Immediately upon putting the order in for a week 45 build, (mid Nov) the production date was bumped back to the end of December due to "issues with 20" wheel vendor.
Other message boards are saying the hold is related to all 50's/V8s....yet some people are being told about the wheel issue. Post any information you hear! |

That could totally be possible, and at least it is a good reason. But...thinking about it, if they had a problem why let them out of the VPC? Also, why let all the ones out to places outside of the US?
