50i with dynamic handling package?
Anyone care to comment about the ride and handling on a 50i, or 35i with dynamic handling package - I would order this way, I think, but have not had a test drive with this suspension set-up
Thanks!! |

I am in the same situation as you and couldn't find any solid info from owners, just reviewers. But the reviewers seemed to overwhelmingly agree that it was a must have feature so I placed my order with the Dynamic Handling Package. And since I have never driven an x5 with or without it, I won't know if it is good or bad even after I have it haha.

I have it on my 50i, and it seems really great...but this is my first X5, and I have not driven one without it. So, pretty much I am no help at all.

Just bought my 50i without, thinking it had it! It feels comfort, yet sporty... No rattles... Etc... Don't know how it would feel with DHP.

I have the base suspension on my 35i and I regret not getting DHP. The lack of steering feel, combined with a wobbly, jittery rear-end (I suspect, btw, this is why they include the air suspension with the 3rd row), makes the X5 borderline nauseating over uneven pavement. It's not a question of soft vs. firm, it's simply poorly sprung/tuned; there are odd weight transfers in the rear end as the X moves axle to axle that aren't communicated through the wheel.
$$ per $$, I'd take DHP over a design package + lightening package (if any of you are on a budget). |

Just curious, are we talking about the $4,500 option? Seems a bit pricy to order without testing? Isn't there a cheaper version that is included in the M sport line?

M-Sport includes dynamic damper control, as well as stiffer standard suspension, but not the active roll and torque vectoring of the full package. |

According to the configuration online you are, but who knows if that's accurate given the issues everyone is having with the cameras and surround view.
Right now it allows me to select M Sport and the Dynamic Handling... |

What was interesting is I was given the choice of "deleting" 2VF or keeping it when I added DHP. I suspect the US market gets either sporty or showy options for the M package

As the price keeps ratcheting up with all of the options, the Rangie keeps looking better and better...
Only problem is that dealers in Cali want $20-30 over sticker because exporters are sending to China. |

Dynamic Handling Package has torque vectoring? That would be great. I haven't been able to find this info anywhere. I think (I could be wrong) in the past that was only available on the X5M and X6M. And maybe the X6.

As confirmed by riM3: Drive Torque between rear wheels.
Dynamic Performance Control The Dynamic Performance Control increases both the agility of the vehicle as well as the lane stability. The system seamlessly handles the distribution of the drive torque between the two rearwheels. Depending on the situation, the drive torque is shifted from the wheel on the inside of the curve to the wheel on the outside of the curve or vice-versa. To increase the maneuverability, the rear wheel on the outside of the curve is accelerated when the driving style is correspondingly sporty. The steering responds directly; simultaneously, the understeering tendency of the fourwheel drive is canceled out. With the oversteering tendency, the system exerts a stabilizing effect by accelerating the rear wheel on the inside of the curve. The system noticeably improves the traction and simultaneously increases the driving safety, especially on road surfaces having fluctuating coefficients of friction. |

This is whatI hate about the x5, You get one option and have To delete Major other stuff. I am ordering the x5 To get 7seats, but because of This in the m50d You Can't get the Performance package w torque vectoring. Thanks a lot bmw!
