Not Fair
It looks like BMW is bringing the 313 hp diesel version in a 3 series GT form to the US, but no news about having it in the X5. How is this fair?

Unfortunately no, I realise that. I was just making the point it is part of the X5 range, albeit non-US.
Ironically I wish our gas prices were a "cheap" as yours as I'd love the 50i ! |

I've driven and ordered the 30d version with 258hp which is more than enough power for a 2t car. To let it out i've got to go to Germany on the Autobahn LOL

Haha, very true. I did the European delivery last May and we drove for couple weekes around Europe. Each gas tank in the F10 M5 cost me around $120 there. It's half over here. For US standards the 30d is very underpowered. We have a lot of real estate in a asphalt form to cover here and as much as I want to have a semi economical SUV, power matters a lot as well. 40d would be great and 50d even better, but unfortunately our government has other more important matters to appeal to.

I could never call the 30d under powered! I've driven one for the last 5 years and the E53 4.4 V8 before that... Apart from the sound (growl of a V8) element, there's very little between them.
I find it amazing that in the US you've got some of the most amazing roads, biggest engine cars and "cheap" gas prices yet you're limited to 55 and 70 mph on most roads! In Europe, sure there are speed limits but 70mph on a motorway translates to 90mph... Well that's my experience! |
