18x10 square setup with 275s and camber plates is a great starting point to improve handling. Also, upgraded pads, fluid, and lines for stopping power.
I've done the latter minus the SS lines. APEX ARC-8's, Hankook R-S3's, JRZ camber plates, StopTech Street Performance pads and GS610 fluid on my E90. Not sure how the E93 will respond to those mods, but they definitely wouldn't hurt

As per the original question, any suspension will help over stock. Will you ever be competitive with coupes on the track? Probably not, but there are still ways to improve handling. It depends how aggressive you want to get and what your budget is. -Mike |

What do you mean by competitive? It is a very fast car as is and will keep up with the vast majority of cars you find at any given HPDE. The performance delta between the e93 and e92 would be significantly less than that of merely a competent vs. a good driver.

"Competitive" is relative. Yes, on the straights it will be "competitive." However, it will be eaten alive in the twisties.
