Need advice on wheel compatibility
I'm trying to sell my stock 19" rims to an individual with a 2010 E90 335d
The specs of the stock 19's are: Wheel Specs: (F) 19"x8.5", 29 offset (R) 19"x9.5", 23 offset and 5x120 bolt pattern. BMW recommends a 40mm offset in the rear for the E90 335d. Any way we can make this work? Last edited by markymarc1979; 04-04-2014 at 11:09 AM.. |

This question will be better answered in the e9x non-m section. Few M3 guys are knowledgable about non-m fitment. That crew has fit some crazy wheels so I bet there is tons of knowledge available there. I wouldn't expect much success posting over there asking what wheels fit an M3...

I also have a non-M E90. The main problem are the rear wheels since the sport package E90 rears are 8.5x18 with 37mm offset. You can fit a 9.5" wheel on one, but you can't do that with the offset at 23mm -- consider the front spacing, it would expand by 0.5" due to wheel width and then another 0.55" (14mm) due to offset. This will be an almost guaranteed tire rub setup. However, if you use a 255/30-19 on it, it might make it (maybe with a fender lip roll).
The fronts on the E90 sport package are 8" with a 34mm offset, so it's likely the 8.5" with 29mm offset would work ok. In fact, 8.5" 29mm all around would be the solution on that car.

Is that person with the 335d lowered at all? If so, some of the negative camber natural to lowering a car will compensate for a portion of that more aggressive offset.
Otherwise, that person is looking at an increase of roughly 27mm (assuming your buyer has the sport package on their 335d) like stated above. I know a lot of factory wheels are "sunk" into the wheel well, but 27mm is a huge jump.
