Change from stateside del to ED (M4)
I have an M4 on order for stateside delivery with a production number. Still #111 w/confirmed production wk 25 (Jun 16). How much of a disruption would result if I wanted to change from stateside delivery to ED? If anything, I would want my confirmed production date to move up, not move back. Not that I don't have confidence in my CA (and I'm bugging him way too much), but if I were to call the ED dept. directly, do you think they could provide me with a possible ED date if I gave them the production number? Or would the entire order have to be cancelled and then resubmitted as an ED car? Again, with how recent these cars are being produced, possible supply delays, etc.., I just don't want to risk any delays in production.

If you are giving the dealer MSRP, or close to it, for the car, the dealer would, IMO, be foolish for turning down a request to change your order to Munich delivery.
That's because, over and above what you pay him, BMW pays the dealer an extra $4,500, (7%) for an ED order. You should use this information to renegotiate in your favor. If you're not confident with your CA, then deal directly with the Sales Manager. They, invariably, are better at sniffing out a good deal. |

Regardless, going ED or stateside would basically be a wash for my deal. My dealer is taking off a $1k for either US msrp or ED msrp. My car is priced w/discount at $72075 ($67959 approx. US invoice=$4116 profit) or $67630 ($63825 approx. ED invoice=$3805 profit).

I like your idea of calling the ED department to inquire as a first step. Hopefully you can find someone who has had experience with cases like this before and can help. |
