X5 dealer accessories
Took delivery of new X5 50i on Friday. M-Sport, Black Saphire exterior, Black Dakota interior, truck looks and drives awesome.
Applied Simonize treatment negotiated at $ 499 with dealer. Currently also signed up for 5 year wheel and tire protection plan signed up at $ 1,499.00, planning to review this at the end of year 1 since contract seems to offer pro-rata refund on cancellation and I don't have experience with RFTs in this class of vehicle. I need to decide on whether to get premium shield clear-bra treatment for the car at negotiated price of $599.00 or not. My inclination is to not get this treatment and take my chances with paint damage, however, I would welcome any experience based feedback on both this and the wheel and tire insurance matter. Thanks in advance. |

Depending on the road conditions you drive in, the clear bra might make sense. Highway miles and especially harsh winters can be murder on the paint surfaces. I have a few friends that have installed the 3M product on the front of their trucks and down the sides (from about halfway up the door)...the paint on trucks with over 100,000 kms look as new.

Thanks, that's useful feedback. I don't drive that much 7-8K miles/year, but tend to keep my cars for a long time, looks like this may be money well spent in the long run.
